Yeah. The fill is DEFINITELY working.

Apr 09, 2010

UGH.  I am SO full.  I've only had 400 calories today and I feel like I am going to bust a gut!  Definitely over did it.  Guess this is going to take a little bit of getting used to.  Still, everything has gone so well for me that I can only feel deep apreciation that I was able to get it done and not suffer too many side effects.  The scale finally went down today.  Someone just mentioned in their blog about a three week slump.  I have to investigate it because that must be what was going on with me over the past week.  I think things are working as they should now, so smaller jeans - here I come!

1st fill

Apr 08, 2010

I had my first fill today!!!  I wasn't expecting it because they say usually it will be six weeks before your first fill.  It was obvious that it was time though.  I had no restriction at all.  I'm really happy about it because my weight loss had stalled and it's WAY too soon for that!  I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't hurt at all!  The need looked really big but I didn't even feel it.  Guess the lidacain (sp?) worked!  It felt so weird!  I've never been pregnant, so I've never felt something move in my body other than normal bodily functions.  It was weird.  I could feel in my stomach when she was feeling for the port with the needle.

SO, back to liquids today and mushies tomorrow.  I HATE liquids.  Everything tastes nasty.  I'm drinking College Inn Bold Stock - Beef Sirloin and it has a bad aftertaste.  I've go to rummage around in here and find something else.

Stuck

Apr 06, 2010

I've had a bad week.  Had to take an emergency trip to Florida to visit my aunt who has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  We drove there and back.  That in combination with many days sitting in the hospital contributed to 3 pounds of weight gain.  EVERYONE asks me "how does that happend"???  They don't get that it's a tool, not a magic pill.  I think most of the weight gain is water weight from sitting so much.  I have a problem with that a lot.  Since I've been back I'm FINALLY able to get into the schedule of my normal life that I have not been able to do since my surgery.  Yesterday I was at work and eating normally again (just smaller portions).  Keeping track of my intake and activity.  I upped my activity and my caloric intake was 969 for the day.  Met my protein and water goals for the day.  I'm still having a problem getting all of my meds in.  SO, this a.m. I was expecting to have lost SOMETHING.  Nope.  Still stuck.  Oh well.  Sticking to the same thing today.  Hoping for some change as long as it is not a gain.  The thing about my aunt's situation is that it forced me to get out of my head and to focus on something other than my band.  That was nice.  Now it's kind of just there and a part of who I am instead of the elephant in the room.

Everything is OK!

Mar 25, 2010

Had my post op appointment today.  I was able to talk to the doc about the weight loss and it is definitely within the realm of normal.  I just found someone else on here who had surgery the exact same day as me (although RNY) and she has lost the same as me.  Wheeew!  I was getting worried.  The good news is he is allowing me to move from liquids to mushies on Monday!!!!  Hello scrambled eggs and tuna fish.  Hello getting my protein from real food instead of food from some lab somewhere!!  This makes me very happy.

POST OP appointment today

Looking forward to it to make sure this rapid weight loss is ok.  I still have the stickers on my port incision and old sticker marks all over my belly.  I can't get them off!!!

Still on liquids . . . technically

Mar 24, 2010

So, to clarify I was told that liquids were anything that you could sip through a straw even though you CAN NOT USE STRAWS.  Over the last few days I've realized that the pain in my stomach was HUNGER.  Who would have guessed it??  ;)  I've moved on now to creamy soups and cream of wheat.  This has improved my stomach pain greatly.  Much better than anything else including protein shakes.  I still like the protein shakes, but am much happier now that I am not "eating" them three+ meals a day.  I prefer protein powder that I add to 1 % milk.  I've tried muscle milk, but it seems to really irritate my stomach.  I bought some Special K protein drinks for on the run and they are ok.  That seems to be my biggest issue - how to manage all of my intake when I'm not at home.  I am scared of getting too empty because it hurts and makes me want to guzzle protein shakes to end the pain, which only adds to the pain.  I'm back to work on Monday and my first day is a class off site.  This means away from the freedom to get up whenever I want and away from the convenience of our office kitchenette.  Trying to think now on how I am going to handle that.

The weight is falling off fast . . . maybe too fast?

Mar 20, 2010

Down to 289.  Was 307 the day before surgery.  That's 18 pounds in six days.  I'm worried that this is too much, too fast!  Everything is progressing well.  Off of pain meds now.  My port bothers me still, which I've heard will last a while.  Today was the first day of spring and beautiful weather outside.  First time in a long time that I did not dread digging out of the winter clothes and moving into something lighter.  I think I'm just beginning to realize that maybe this might actually work and I might loose a significant amount of weight.  Things can only get better from here!!!
