i have been overweight all of my 30's and basically in denial.  i took down all mirrors except for a small one in the bathroom.  i also would be able to not really or look past myself in a reflective mirror.  one day i really looked in the mirror and was like is that really me.  i cried.  i have like many here tried every diet and failed.  i had researched in the past wls but said i couldnt afford it.  in january of this year i looked again and found out my insurance pays for it without all the hoopla.  i only had to have the bmi over 40 (which i did) so i decided to pursue and do all my research.  so here i am on the road.

i have 3 children a boy 13, a girl 9 and a boy 4 (who is mildly autistic).  i have been married since 1991.  i am a registered nurse at albany medical center in albany new york.  i work on the infectious diseases/aids treatment floor.  I enjoy movies, reading and playing cribbage.

here is how i gained weight.  in high school i weighed between 135-142.  i ran track - the long distance 1 mile and 2 mile.  i joined the navy and worked out alot.  in 1992 my brother had a car accident that left him in a coma for 6 weeks and with a TBI.  my cousin in this same time frame was burned over 80% of his body from an accident at his automotive class.  a kid without teacher supervision welded into a car's gas line and it blew.  my mother was angry at me for not supporting her and we started having problems.  my husband was discharged out of the navy unexpectedly (he likes to smoke a little something he shouldnt have) so we ended up homeless.  my mother divorced her 2nd husband.  this all happened in a 4 month period.  i turned to eating and wham bam there it went.
