Merry Christmas !!

Dec 18, 2008

Tuesday , Dec 9th at 8:55 I was scheduled for surgery! I have been home 6 days and I'm doing a lot of walking, probably too much my husband says so today is "relaxation" day  thus I am starting a blog. ;)

My supporters: Husband-Eric, Mom-Sandy, Dad-DR, Mother-in-Law- Anne, Sister-Lucy, Son-George, Daughter-Madilyn, Pastor-Dr. SImms. BFF-Ellen,  New BF-4 girls from carle support group.

Tuesday 9th-Day of surgery!!! Went into surgery at 8:55am. In recovery -not sure how long--longer than usual since the hospital was at full census (max capacity) that day. Wheeled to my room by 6pm. Pain med levels-Good check! Up and walking in a couple hours-Good check!  Hose in my nose down to stomache-Pain in the butt-There check!

Wednesday 10th-Day 1 after surgery. Up and walking 3-4 times today. Things a little fuzzy-not sure if the tube was taken out today or tomorrow. Either way it sucked! 6 apple juice shots -slow to get down but mission accomplished.

Thursday 11th- Day 2 after surgery. More up and walking. Regimented meal plans brought to you by the Carle Lunch Room. Hose removed from nose/throat. Felt like a pipe cleaner coming out. Not so good feeling. By this day my throat was raw/sore from the hose. I could feel it in my throat every time i swallowed-thought I was going to gag.

Friday 12th- Day 3 after surgery. Going home today!! IV's are out, pain pump gone (good bye old pal), Was ready to leave by 7:00 this morning. Actual release time 6:30 pm. Oh well, just a lot of TV/relaxing/talk time. Eric was my hero. He stayed with me in the hospital All week long. Everyone else bailed after surgery on Tuesday. Primarily because my parents were watching my kids and they headed for home Tuesday evening. WHat a trooper he was. No bed, just a recliner. I was kind enough to sit in the recliner and give him some bed rest time. Not nearly what he needed I am well aware of haha!

Saturday 13th- Day 4 after surgery, 1st day home. A lot of rest, just sitting reading, watching movies.

Sunday 14th- Day 5 after surgery. Eric wants to go to Church. Pain meds are Good-so we go. Everyone shocked including the Pastor to see me there I can tell. Chins dropped!  Lunch at Rainbow Garden for the hubby and in-laws. won-ton broth not sooo bad. Finished my x-mas shopping after lunch. Home around 10:00pm that night. Passed the Heck out!!

Monday 15th- Day 6 after surgery. Eric back to work. Kids are still gone visiting my parents until the weekend. I rented all of season three and disc 2 of season four of HOUSE. Let the marathon begin!!

Tuesday 16th- Day 7 after surgery. More walking around the house, some gift wrapping, fixed a thank-you dinner for Erics return home from work-Exhausted!!!

Wednesday 17th-Day 8 after surgery. Cable guy came to fix service at 1:30, mother in law came by 2:00 to pick me up to go upgrade cell phone-didn't happen store was out of the phone I wanted. Maybe a phone call tomorrow some more in. On to Bergner's for a bit while she shops--senior citizen disc day 50% + additional 20% off. The Pro side of senior citizen day-huge discount/savings. Con-waiting in line while the pink and blue haired ladies count every single bill and coin and question ALL pricing. Hmmm some smarts about designating and enticing the elderly to shop on not so busy days!!! Great idea! hahaha

Thursday 18th-Day 9 after surgery. Slept in until 10:30 this morning. Haven't slep that good in my own bed since returning home. Turned up the heat--it's really cold out and apparently inside as well. My husbands sister and her family flew in from CA to Chicago late yesterday. Suppose to go visit and have dinner with them tonight. Haven't seen them in over a year or longer. Started this blog to try and help keeps things straight.

*all meals, showers, phone conversations were held during the course of these events. Nothing ever felt so good as a shower in your OWN home!!  hahah
