198 Lbs!

Apr 06, 2011

Hit the 100's...OMG...I never thought I would be here, never! I had been sitting on the couch for a week riddled with stress and anxiety. Had not gone to Krav class and was just tired. Eating junk I would never eat. Yes, what I am saying is I had a few moments of weakness. Thank goodness my pouch doesn't allow me to go to far with it ,with out consequences (I did have those too, not a fun reminder) Next week, went back to eating better and exercising. I sleep better through the night and have more energy during the day. Keeping my ulcers under control is a challenge sometimes as well. Stress doesn't help that.

The other day hubby pulls out the Wii board. "no" I said "I don't want to see my weight. I am almost certain I gained weight and I will cry if I did". He turned it on saying "no you won't, just get up here" I made those "do I have to" groaning noises as I rose from the couch. Walked over to the Wii Board and stepped on. Here we go....measuering....measeing...measuring...all done!
BMI came up then the weight....198! What I lost 4.9lbs....doing what, eating Ice cream sandwiches? I guess stress played a part in this I'm sure. I am not saying this is ever something you should do. I guess the moral of the story is....If you fall off the food wagon for any reason, just get back on it as soon as possible. You may not be as lucky as I was and you may gain the weight and hate your self for it. Just go back to basics. Protein first, no carbs, veggies and no sugar. Just for starters. Water, water, water and vitamins :o)

Veggie Burger ala Ragu

Mar 29, 2011

Being a Bariatric patient I have had to make things, mix things and eat things most of us would not. I like to call it my science experiments. Sometimes these so called science projects turn out to be super yummy and I feel i must share with all my Bariatric  friends (and those who just generally want to try something different and healthy) So here is something I made today.

get out one Gardenburger® Sun-Dried Tomato Basil ( http://www.gardenburger.com/product.aspx?id=11650 )

1/2 a zucchini

1/2 a yellow summer squash

1/2 cup Ragu Chunky Garden style Mama's Special Garden Pasta Sauce

1 slice of cheese (optional)

Cut your zucchini and squash into little bite size pieces and cook in a tad of olive oil until they are soft

Cook your veggie burger 4 min each side (4 min, flip, 4 min add cheese last 40 sec)

while that cooks, add ragu to your veggies and allow to get hot. Once veggie burger is done place on plate and heap veggie/ragu mix over veggie Burger. add a bit of Parmesan if you like.

This meal is filling and super tasty, You can add stuff like spices and cheeses for your own spin on it. enjoy!

207 lbs

Feb 18, 2011

Well, I'm 7 lbs from making it into the 100"s This is nuts! I have not felt this wonderful in years!. My hubby and I started Krav Maga (Krav Maga is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It’s also the preferred system for U.S. Military and law enforcement personnel. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. No katas. No rituals. Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self defense in the shortest possible time. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bearhugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks. Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter. Tested on the battlefield and in the streets, Krav Maga’s practical approach to self defense will make you safer and more secure.) even my daughter (who is a teen) decided to start going. We go a few times a week. They work every part of your body all while learning to defend your self against any attacker! I feel so strong and can see the skin starting to recoil. I do have a lot of excess skin but it is shrinking more with the training. I believe everyone should check it out. enjoy :o)

217lbs

Jan 14, 2011

After weeks of taking my medication (the healing purple pill and carafate) My stoma is not 100% up to par but I am able to eat things more. I can eat 1 1/2 cups or even 2 cups of food at one sitting. I'm still unable to eat dense foods and meats but that's okay. It will just take time right? I'm down to 217lbs. 128lbs lost!! I feel like a skeleton with skin....Lot's of skin! The biggest part of me is my tummy and all because of the rapid weight loss. I'm thinking about taking up krav maga. That might be just what I need to kick start my body to tighten the skin. We shall see. I'll keep ya posted :o)

225Lbs. Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2011

Happy New Year Everyone! I have lost a total of 120lbs in 5 months. This is really crazy. Over the Christmas break I went to my gastro appointment and found out some disturbing things about my strictures. Yes, I had 2 strictures. The first time they scoped me they found that the hole to my stoma was about as big as a writing pen push top. (not that big) and were surprised I was getting any food in there at all. 1 1/2 months or so later they did another scope and found that when I had the first scope it swelled the stoma up and stayed that way, got a tear in the stoma wall and an ulcer formed in the tear. This time they dilated me to 15 centimeters. Gave me some nasty liquid to take to keep the swelling down and the healing purple pill to break open daily and take. They said If I do not get better this time they would not scope me again but rather have my doctor go in and repair the tear by cutting it out. Meaning major surgery all over again...dear god, I don't want to do this ever again. I want to eat like most of you out there that can have tiny meals of almost anything. Mashed Potato's and beans become tiring after time. I'm happy for the weight loss (and never look a gift horse in the mouth) But on the flip side was getting worried about the health of my body seeing how i was basically not getting hardly enough food to adequately nourish myself. But surprise, surprise we got my labs back and all my vitamins were good. Nothing wrong. I plan on going to my regular doc for a full check up and blood work up of kidneys and liver and any other important organs. Just for my piece of mind.

Recently, I have been able to put away about 1 1/2 cups or so of food. It makes me feel like I finally get to eat. My sister says "Omg, no wonder you were so angry all the time....you were starving!" LOL! makes me laugh every time. So here I am at the beginning of a new year and feeling fabulous ! I can't wait to go to the amusement parks in the summer and to the pool etc. I can't wait to do all the things I only dreamed about year after year. What a trip this has been. 40-50lbs to go to make my goal weight. Awesome!!!

I am more scared of this weight loss than I would like to admit. I feel tired all the sudden I know lack of protein is getting me down I'm really trying to get it in but just can't seem to fill that quota!! I'm drinking lean body I love it (strawberry and the banana ones the best)
lean body
They have 25g of protein per bottle but I have to drink 2x a day to get a min. amount of protein in and hope I'm getting the rest from the food I eat.. See the doc on Monday so lets see how this goes. Will update then. Have  a great week :o)

I Lived Through Thanksgiving

Nov 28, 2010

I'm down to 242lbs and have lost just about 5lbs in 6days. Part of me is really excited and the other part of me is saying "this is soooo not healthy" I will call my doctor on Monday with my eating issues. This just can't go on. I have serious pain in my back and in my ribs along with my bones in my legs and arms, feels like my kidneys have been punched. Food yet again is painful (not as bad as before but just as annoying) I don't feel healthy, I feel like I'm starving to death with out the hunger. this is nuts. I will let ya all know how it goes.

As for Thanksgiving I cooked all the regular stuff and sub some other things. I was able to have some turkey (dark meat) , fruit salad, mashed potato's and gravy. That's about it. everyone was shocked when they saw me and asked lots of questions. My mother saw me over skype and said I looked like I was just wasting away...(she meant that in the nicest way) clothes I haven't worn in years look wonderful on me, just wish they were back in style. LOL!

My hair is still falling out like a shedding dogs. This is just crazy! I hope I don't go bald?? Sorry this is so short but I have things I need to take care of. I will Post soon :o)
