I went jogging :)

Dec 31, 2007

Well as we all know I am not the most physically fit person. Well this morning I was tired of sitting around the house and was getting rather depressed, so I decided Akeela and I would go to phinzy swamp for a jog. Well we drove over to the park and started on our nature trail when she went after a squirrel, she looked at me when she had a sudden jerk on her neck from the other end of the 25 ft. flexi leash. As we continued I felt like jogging, So I started jogging all the way across the dam of the beaver pond, which to me was a good long way. We reached the other end of the beaver pond and slowed back to a walk. We crossed over the bridge when Akeela starts growling and freaking out, there were 2 huge dead pieces of tree, I guess she thought they were bugars. I made her smell them so she wouldn't be scared and we continued our trail along the creek. We get to the next part of my trail where I wanted to jog and it is flooded. I am not complaining about the rain b/c we really needed it, I shouldn't have been so stupid to pick the trail that goes through the swamp. So we tried a different way, it ended up being flooded as well, so we came back across the beaver pond were I jogged again then made the stop at the rest room.  I was just about to let her run in the open field when I hear people so I leave her on her leash.  So we decided to start down the bridge that takes you to the other side of the swamp, just almost to the edge of the woods and the kids who had just arrived at the park barreled into the forest. Spooking this huge buck, Akeela was growling and trying to go after him, I was hanging on for dear life. I calm her and look up and there is a doe, she stops and just stares at me. Then the kids go to making noise and the doe spooks and there goes akeela after her, until she hits the end of the 25ft. leash. So we continue on and the bridge is flooded so we start back for the car. The kids come barreling out of the woods when they realize they couldn't cross the bridge. Akeela is growling alot so I make her sit and be calm, but this one boy she didn't like. I told the lady and her kids that all the trails were flooded, she asked about the visitor center, I said it doesn't open til 12 but with it being new years eve I am not sure they are open. So they get in there SUV from New York and off they go. Akeela and I did some more jogging and playing in the open area and left to come home. I have to take my shower and get ready for work. I feel great. I think I will try jogging more often, I can't wait for the weather to be nice enough I can ride my trike at the park. That will probablly be this spring. This new year will be filled with exercise and healthy eating for me, as I am still on my journey to a new happier, healthier me.  I am working on getting in shape for our trip to the bahama's in Feb.

got the promotion

Oct 27, 2007

Well I am down 35 lbs, and am feeling great. Been going to the gym and it is about to kill me, I am so stiff.  Anyways, well I finally got my promotion.  They asked me back when I had my surgery which was 6 weeks ago, if I would be interested in  a seasonal CEM position which is Customer Experience Manager.  I interviewed for it the day I came back to work which was Oct. 9, 2007.  After getting pushed off and assuming they were going to give it to someone else out from under me. Which is what they did to the last promotion I was told I was going to get.  I was prepared to look for another job after the holiday season. I got a call last thursday saying they were going to give it to me but it wasn't official. Well when I came in today I was told I was going to get the promotion but the store manager wanted to talk to me. So I was called into his office and he congratulated me.  Then my manager took me in another office and told me that I have to act like a manager and carry myself like a manager. She said and you are breaking dress code in those shoes. She sent 2 people home earlier for not being in dress code, so she told me to get in dress code next time I come in. So I will be in dress code, which the only thing I had wrong was the shoes. They recently said we could where black athletic shoes, so I had on black tennis shoes with white laces and a white strip on the soul.  So next time I will have on the right shoes.  So I will be making 10.00 a hour and 40 hours a week. So I am excited about this position and the extra money will help tremendously after being off work for 4 weeks. Well that is all for now.

not losing any weight

Sep 27, 2007

Well I have been in Louisiana since Sept. 22. It is Sept. 27 and I haven't lost any weight. I lost 20lbs my first 8 days and now I am losing nothing. I have been eating nothing but finely chopped ham and turkey 2 times a day and a SF Carnation instant breakfast shake for breakfast. I have been walking as time permits. I didn't get any walking in over the weekend. Monday I walked a 1/2 mile, Tuesday I walked a mile, Wed. I didn't get any walking in. I have walked a 1/3 of a mile today but I plan on doing the rest of my mile this evening when it cools off. Anybody got any ideas?

What happend on my surgery day.

Sep 17, 2007

Well I called on Friday to the hospital and they told me to be there at 6am on Monday morning. Well on  Sunday mom and I walked 3 miles then went to church with the hubby. After church he went grocery shopping and going to get a hair cut. Mom and I decided we would venture up Aiken for a Dressage competition. Well we got lost trying to find the place, we found a triple crown polo tournment but decided against that. So we ended up at Freds, the GoodWill, and then Wal-Mart (a very large one). We walked around wal-mart till I was exhausted, I swear we spent about 1 to 2 hours in there.  Well anyways got home trimmed my nails, toe nails, took my piercing out of the center of my ear, and greased up the hands to get the rings off, after that we all went to bed about 9. We got up at 4:30am on Monday Sept. 10,2007. urinated in the cup. I took my shower in Hibcleanse, put my night gown on with my shoes, sent out a email to all the friends. Hubby left for formation and we left the hospital. I went and dropped off my urine sample. We caught the elevator up to the 6th floor to check in. They sent us to the waiting room, called me for blood pressure, blood sugar, heprin, etc. Then sent me out to get my family, at this time my hubby had met back up with us. They then took us to another area where I changed into the lovely hospital gound and shoes.  The chaplain came around to pray with us at my request. I am still not worried or anything, mainly excited. One of Dr. Chasens' assistants came in Dr. Parker, he told me they had to move my surgery back til 9am b/c of an emergency rny, so I was like okay. He said we may take out your galbladder depending on how it looks. He said it would be a 4hr. procedure for everything. Then as he was about to leave he said okay I have to sign your stomach so they know I came to talk to you, and he did with a permant marker. Well we continued to watch TV. Finally 9 am came around. Well they come to get me to take me to OR. Well they told my family to wait in the waiting, but it was not the same waiting area they had been previously been told to wait in, Okay now I am being seperated from the ones I love and feeling quite apprehensive. Then I get in the OR and my nurse introduces himself, Capt. Klein. He was kinda handsome. Then my anesthilogist came over his name was Mike, but he had a VERY handsome trainee named Capt. Chris Stake. Well it is about 9:30 or so and  Cpt. Stake starts to find a vein for my IV, he finally finds one starts putting the needle in and bam there goes the power. Well it just so happend I was under the flood lights so he was able to finish putting in the IV and taping it down. Well the lights come back on, well it was the generator ran lights. They kept announcing Georgia Power went off the grid and that the hospital should know something by 10:30. I asked cpt. klein to tell my family about the delay, I assumed he did. So several people kept coming by to check on me. I met lots of nurses down there and some whom have had gastric bypass.  At about 10:15 I had to pee so cpt. stake escorted me to the bathroom, then back to bed. Well it is 10:30am the power is back on but can't start surgeries until 11am.  Cpt. stake came and put some acid reducer in my IV and then said I will be back with the good stuff, so my stomach gurgled and I wasn't feeling well. He came back and says okay here is the good stuff, but I will be back in a minute with the really good stuff, well I don't remeber anything after the goodstuff. The next thing I know Dr. Chasen is wiggling my toes telling me to wake up and I vaguegly rember that. He said all went well we took you Galbadder and I was back out again. Next was my hubby and mom waking me to check on me in SICU on the 3rd floor. I don't rember anything about that visit. I had a really nice nurse named Ronnie that evening in SICU. He helped me make 2 laps around the SICU, got me some ice chips which he really wasn't supposed to do but I was dying of thirst or thats at least how I felt. Then shift change came at 11pm. I got a nurse named Stacy, she  woke me to introduce herself, at 12am she came back to give me heprin, check my blood sugar, and give me some insulin. Well it is 2am and they are back to draw labs from me, GEE can't you people let me sleep.  I got bugged off and on that night due to different things in SICU.

I just wanted to say Thanks for all the phone calls and visits. They really helped me out. I am home from the hospital as of yesterday 9-13-07. Everyone says I am doing good. I am still very tired and low energy but I am still getting up and walking. I walked the block this morning which is 1/3 of a mile and my mom is wanting me to go again now. I just got up from a nap  thanks to so many phone calls. I want to sleep alot it seems. I have only taken 2 doses of my pain meds since I got home, and each time I have gotten light headed afterwords....Well I am gonna go take another nap or maybe walk to the block.

Day Before Surgery.

Sep 08, 2007

Well it is Sunday Morning and I have to be at the hospital at 6am Monday Sept. 10, 2007. I got up this morning at 6:30 b/c I could 't sleep. So I did some laundry. My mom got here last night so she heard me pilfering in the house and got up. So we just took my girls for a 3 mile walk, and then came back and did the partial agility course with Akeela. We are in the process of getting ready for church, well I am waiting my turn. After that it is either off to see the Dressage competition in Aiken, which is what mom and I want to do. Or up to Fort Gordon for Walter to get his hair cut and mom and I to do some last minute grocery shopping for her and my hubby, and a few items for me. I could hardly sleep last night, I had so many thoughts running through my head. I should have got up and journaled them b/c now I can't rembemer, lol. Well it is my turn to get ready. This is the Day the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24.

A good quote

Sep 05, 2007

I was at the Cardiologist on the 28th of Aug. and the nurse doing my EKG was named shelia. She has had bypass surgery and showed me her before and after pictures. She told me to remeber 1 rule and that is " Just because you are thin doesn't mean you can eat anything,  You are thin because of what you don't eat."  Or  something like that.

Fears 5 days b4 surgery.

Sep 05, 2007

Okay well it is official I am five days pre-op and am starting to worry. I am worried I am not going to do this right. I don't want to have this surgery and gain my weight back. I want to make sure that I lose the weight and I keep it off. I don't want to have to worry about being obese and not being able to walk to the car without being out of breath. I don't want to be able to not tie my shoes or put my socks on and be warn out by it. I want to ride horses, and run down the block or even walk down the block with out being short winded. I want to eat the right foods and live a healthy life style, not a junk food, fried food, junkie that I am now. I don't want food to be my comfort anymore. I want my a active / healthy life style. Obesity runs in my family and I know I can't change genetics, but I want to change my life. To be a healthier happier person. So are there any sugguestions to help me make this surgery a success for the rest of my life, not just for a few years?   I went to the support group for August WLS tonight and learned a little bit, about people gaining some weight and not being able to get it off as well. I also learned that many people like me are emotional eaters and that you have to beat the emotions and not eat.  Dr. Blaney there sugguest everyone read wls for dummies before they have the surgery. I know I only have 5 days till surgery so I want to go and pick up the book from him and I can read it while in the hospital and around the house.  I think the support groups will help me alot. We learned tonight there is a pscyhologist that deals with bariatric patients and there eating habits, and there emotional eating habits. I would like to visit with this Dr.  Maybe she can help me be more successful at my surgery and losing the weight. Well anyways, Those are some of my fears.
