Met Dr. Nick Gabriel @ The WLS Seminar!!!

Jun 03, 2009

I really had no idea actually how many people were gonna turn out for the seminar. My cousin Joe and I attended and found the seminar very, very educating! Not to mention, his staff was there as well, and they had refreshments available for people that were attending. (No not goodies lmao.....but Fruit Platters, and bottles of water....hey who gives you that for free these days???)

I had first seen Dr. Gabriel on the news, and I knew that I had seen him on there, I just couldn't place him at first lol. He did show the video tho of himself on CNN. Turns out that he is known world wide!!! He does surgery overseas, and even tho he does surgery for NYC, he has 46 patients in different states! People who live in Pennsylvania drive the 5-6 hours just to keep their scheduled appointments with him, so that says alot!!!

He was very thorough about both surgeries (LapBand and Gastric Bypass). I still don't know which one would be better for me.
Gastric Bypass, the weigh comes off rapidly, while the Lapband is a more safe procedure with just as many complications as the gastric bypass but, the lapband seems more common nowadays.

Dr. Gabriel described some of the habits that everyone in the seminar had, and I noticed that I had almost most of them. From Sleep Apnea, to Venous Stasis Dermatitis, then he had talked about consuming liquids and foods. Now when I drink a bottle of anything, especially water, I GULP the entire thing in 2 seconds. It's very greedy and I told him about that, and he laughed and said Im not the first person to have this habit. Even the big fat Gatorades that are 32FL, I can down it in less than a minute!!!

Long story short, he gave an excellent presentation and I felt very comfortable talking to him, so I decided after the seminar, to actually schedule an appointment to see him.

I know I definitely need surgery, I just don't know which one I want yet. I also made an appointment to see the Nutritionist which is on July 9th, at 11am and My appointment with Dr. Gabriel is August 5th, at 10:30am, I know its 2 months away, considering almost everyone at the seminar was scheduling appointments lol, but I took the initiative! plus................

HE ACCEPTS MY INSURANCE! LOL

As I left, I made a promise that I would start dieting right away so when I do see Dr. Gabriel, even If I lost 15 pounds, it's a start and he can see that I really want this. I don't wanna waste his time and more importantly, I wanna live LONGER and HEALTHIER!
