Halfway home!!

Dec 05, 2007

I thought this deserved it's own post because I'm rootin tootin happy!!

I'm officially half way to my weight loss goal today! I weighed in at 275 (ok, 274.8) today.. which is 90 pounds down from my starting weight and half way to my goal weight loss.. only four months and one week after surgery.

WOO HOO!!!! PLUS I'm only 10 lbs away from my Century Club status. No more bitchin from me about plateaus.. a least until I hit another one! ;-D

What's odd is that I've lost six pounds in the last two days. I had actually went up to 281 and then BOOM, woke up yesterday at 277 and today at 274.8.  My body must hold on to every pound for dear life and then decide every once in awhile to give up the fight!

Feeling weird about all the attention

Nov 25, 2007

I admit it.  I don't know if  I like all this attention.

With Thanksgiving and my cousin's wedding, I saw a lot of people I haven't seen since the WLS.  EVERYONE had huge compliments for me and my granny (whom I love dearly!) told me I am just looking gorgeous lately.

I feel like kicking the corner and mumbling "aw shucks" to everyone who's complementing me.  I know I've lost a lot of weight, but I'm not the girl who has got a lot of attention in the past.. so this is just.. weird.

On a positive note, my hubby totally has the hots for me.  That's GOT to count for somethin!

Back To The Gym

Nov 20, 2007

With daylight savings time and the days getting shorter, my walks with my doggies is now limited to weekends only as it's too dark when I get home at night.

So alas.. must go back to gym workouts.  I did the elliptical for the first time ever today and WOW.  That machine really gives ya a work out.  Also did some weights and realized how weak my muscles really are.    Must work on the arm muscles.

Finished up with some swimming.

I have really noticed my weight loss slow, and it's directly related to the fact I haven't really exercised in the past three weeks except for a few walks.  I'm back on the bandwagon now!!

AND for anyone having problems with vitamins, I highly recommend OptiSource.  Chewable and very good!

More Shopping.. where did all my clothes go???

Nov 10, 2007

Wow.  I am pretty much out of clothes.  On my last post, I was just squeezing into a 22W.  I am now firmly in a 22W both pants and top.

The struggle is that I began in 30W-32W range for tops and 28W-30W range for bottoms.  I've been able to make some of the tops work, but at this point, I look like I'm swimming in my clothes!

The big event clothes wise is actually being able to shop at Dress Barn, which is a 4-24 place here.  I've never shopped there and to be able to was amazing. Let's hope I can make these group of clothes stretch a couple sizes!

I've been really slacking on my exercise.. it's been dark when I get home, so walking is a pretty much no go.  Starting back to the gym next week so I can hit my 100 lbs gone by Christmas goal!

The really cool thing about losing weight is my body is apparently starting to work right.  Before WLS, I was struggling fertility wise.  I wasn't ovulating on my own and [warning tmi coming up] certain fluids weren't flowing during the right times.  This is the first cycle where I've ovulated on my own (!!!) and having the right fluids at the right time.  Plus, my BBT temps are right on.  This is so cool!

My goal next week is to take my vitamins faithfully every day and exercise 5x next week.  I've also been slacking on the vitamins, so I next to get back on track next week so that I can restart the rapid weight loss. I'm still losing, just not as fast as I was when I was walking 4-5x per week.

NEXT weight loss marker is the 270 lbs mark.  At this point, I'm obese instead of morbidly obese! I'm also going to try to get an updated pic.

22W BAY-B! (I'm so totally the hotness!!!) :-)

Oct 23, 2007

I can't believe how far I've come so fast!!!! Today I fit into the 22W slacks I bought two weeks ago.  I almost got into my 18W slacks!! Still a few weeks away though...

My shrinkage from 26W to 22W has went fast! I'm still in shock considering I was fitting comfortably in 30W the week of surgery.  I'm still quite comfortable in a 2X top, but I haven't tried a 1X to see how far that is away.

It's so shocking considering I entered into college fourteen years ago wearing a 22/24.  24 definite for pants.  I was in a 26 by senior year.  My DH has NEVER seen me this skinny and boy, it's done wonders for the sex life!

If you are reading this considering surgery, my only advice is to DO IT.  It is the BEST thing I have ever done for my health and I'm SO happy!!

Up and down

Oct 13, 2007

I think I'm on a mini stall again.  I have been going back and forth between 299 and 302 the past few days.  Today I hit 298 so I think it's heading down again.

Even though I haven't lost any weight this week, I KNOW I've lost inches.  I tried on a blazer at Catherine's last week that was a bit snug.  I had decided not to get it because I found an outfit that I liked that fit better.

I tried the same blazer on Friday and it fits PERFECTLY.  (And it's a size 22/24!! I started at a 30/32 in jackets.)

I'm officially done with most of my presurgery clothes.  I do have some blazers that don't engulf me too much, but I'm putting a lot of my work clothes on eBay this weekend so I can (of course) go out and get MORE clothes.

Clothes shopping is fun, but still kinda difficult because I really have no clue how things will fit.  I need to wear foundation garments ie a girdle to hold in some of the flab.  I made the decision then to start my savings account for plastics.

WOW! Below 300!!

Oct 08, 2007

This morning is already a crazy morning.  I'm below 300!!! First major goal -- SUCCESS!! Now I just need to update my pic!

I know WLS works.. but I have tried so many different things I was scared before the surgery I would be one of those freak failure stories.  Now, 66 pounds later... I KNOW this is going to work.

I had a pure moment of happiness yesterday after taking my boys on their walk.  Before WLS, even a 20 minute walk was tiring.  Yesterday I walked for over an HOUR.  And it was beautiful outside.  It was so nice to be enjoying my life and to be enjoying being active.  I really can see how this exercise thing can be addictive!!

Now on to my next goal... which is 265 or 100 pounds gone.  My initial short term goal was to be down 100 pounds by Christmas.  That means I have to lose 34 pounds in the next 2.5 months.  As long as I don't hit any stalls, it's possible.  (Admittedly, a teensy bit aggressive goal-- but that's how I am!)

I have had a "sweet" tooth a bit that concerns me.. I seem to "need" a bit of sugar after meals. I've been having a snack size Nestle Crunch or something similar for energy, but I'm not sure if this is normal.  I totally feel guilty about it every time and I'm going to try to stop this.  I don't want ANYTHING to sabotage my end goal of getting below 200!

Saggy Skin and Shopping

Sep 29, 2007

I was mentally prepared for sagging skin.. what I definitely wasn't prepared for was seeing it THIS SOON!! I notice it the most on my arms and stomach.. my thighs are a bit jiggly and the girls have definitely headed a bit south.  I knew it wouldn't be pretty.. but I guess it surprised me how emotional I really got about it.  THAT being said, I still wouldn't trade this for where I was.  Plus, I knew from the get go I'd probably be having reconstructive surgery.  Now it's a definite!!

Shopping has definitely been an interesting experience.  I seem to be losing faster on my bottom half vs my top half.  I am down to a size I can get clothes now at a Lane Bryant, Target, or WalMart.. which I had gained out of about a year ago.

I had purchased a pair of jean capris about three weeks out and it was definitely sucking in to get them on.  This morning I just slipped them on and was shocked to find they're almost a bit TOO loose!!

I've also pretty much lost out of all of my work slacks too.. which is distressing because I HATE having to buy new clothes, but it's a must.  I'm in tv advertising sales and a very professional and classy appearance is a MUST.

I've found a couple good buys on eBay.. but I get nervous.  When I've tried on clothes at Catherine's, I range anywhere from a 22W to a 26W in pants depending on cut and material.  That being said, shopping has actually become pretty fun!!! :-)

WOW!!

Sep 17, 2007

Pant Size.. 24W-26W
Shirt.. 2X

WOW!

Started at a 28W/30W pant size and a 4X/5X shirt!!! :-)

WALKING WALKING WALKING!!!

Sep 08, 2007

One big and wonderful thing for me has been walking no longer hurts! Woo hoo!!!

Right before my surgery, I couldn't walk very far (usually no more than 20 minutes) and my feet would be sore. (I also think there may be a shoe issue too!)

Today I walked for 45 minutes, yesterday 40, and last weekend I walked for just over 30 minutes Fri-Mon.  I take my dogs with me and off we go! It's so nice to be out and enjoying the walk!

NOW just pray the temps stay nice! Walking in hot humid Iowa kinda sucks!
