Holding steady..

Sep 05, 2009

I have been at 159 for a month or so and honestly, If i do not lose another pound I feel great at this weight.
My final semester of college has started and boy are my stress levels up. Just trying to make sure I stick to my routine and do not forget to take care of myself. Soon I really need to think about having a yard sale or renting a booth at the flea market, because I have a ton of clothes to get rid of.

The thrift store has become my shopping place of choice and saved me a bunch of money. Well, this is just a quick update for now. I hope that everyone is doing well.

Great week..

Jun 29, 2009

We have our nephew, he's 11yrs. old and it has allowed me to get out even more.
This mornings weigh-in was good, weighed in at 170 pounds, only 10 more pounds until I meet my surgeons goal.
I am feeling better then I have in years right now, much more energy.

In the morning, we head for Dollywood again. Taking our nephew for his first ever visit to an amusement park, this should be a blast. It will also allow me to get in some walking, ok alot of walking. I think I will reward myself for the 60 pounds I have already lost by doing the zipline.

Today we picked up the rental car, so to save some wear and tear on our poor car. It was nice running errands and having air conditioning for a change. Well, I am off to bed, got an early morning and a three and a half hour drive.

Down two more pounds..

Jun 07, 2009

I weighed in this morning at 176 pounds, I have not been in the 170's since high school.
My best friend was in town a few weeks ago and we got outdoors to hike and walked  around at Dollywood,so got alot of exercise while she was in town.

I am no longer working and it's nice to only have school to focus on for a bit. However, I do plan to find a part-time job to keep me busy. My wife and I are going to pick up our nephew for the summer this upcoming week, so good times are ahead. We plan to do some camping, fishing, hiking and take another trip back to Dollywood very soon.

Things seem to be becoming easier since I no longer work crazy hours, it's been much easier to plan meals. I have been walking a bit but hope to set up a workout schedule this week sometime. School is going good and the block is almost over. I am excited to have three weeks off from classes but I still have my practicum site to work at during that time.

I have 16 pounds to go, to meet my surgeons goal weight for me and 26pounds to meet my personal goal. It is unbelievable that the weight has come off so quickly, even though many times during this journey, I have thought I'd never be this close to my goal weight.

Having a rough time...

May 13, 2009

My schedule has been so unpredictable, so still not getting down any kind of routine. It seems when i'm home it's to sleep, many days just forget to eat and definitely no working out. This makes me feel like "why did I bother to have surgery". I am so afraid that if I do not figure something out soon, this to will be a failure.

In good news, my bestfriend flies in on Friday night. So, I at least know while J is here, I will be getting out and doing more. It has been so long since I have done anything besides sleep, go to work and school. Hopefully, this will allow me to relax a bit, my stress level has been through the roof lately.

Last weekend, I had to hit up some thrift stores because I had no pants that fit right. Finally, I do not look like a wannabe gangster or as a schoolmate commented "a boy trying to wear his daddy's clothes". I am still losing weight but it has slowed down alot, to about 2 pounds a week, but I realize this is probably because I am not eating often enough and definitely not drinking enough fluids.

Now that I have pointed out my flaws, it's time to make some sort of plan to get on track. Ok, I have to work tomorrow, so going to end for now. From now on, I need to make sure to update more.

The past week...

Apr 12, 2009

Last thursday, my practicum site hired me. So, I gave up the other job for that.
It has been rough because the schedule I am on now to figure out how to eat properly  and adjusting to the hours I'm working. By the time this week ends, I'll have worked 68 hours. Yep, in one week!

My weigh in this week was 194, so getting there slowly but surely. Not sure what my regular work schedule will look like but thankful to have a job in this economy. Well, I need to get some much needed sleep.

Weigh-in Day..

Mar 29, 2009

This morning I was suprised to be officially under 200 pound,199 to be exact.
My training on the new job went well, but was boring. This next weeks work schedule has again thrown a wrench into the plans. I'm not sure I will have the particular practicum site anymore, do to needing yet another week off.

I will be calling them tomorrow when I go on lunch break. Right now, I am so burnt out on school but know I need to push forward and graduation is only a short time away. Not much more to write at the moment.

A better week...

Mar 22, 2009

My practicum site kept me busy this past week but I enjoy it. I start a new job in the morning, the training is during the day so I had to ask for the week away from my practicum site. I'll be working second shift once I'm trained, not sure if I'll work full or part time yet.

Either way, I'll be busy from now until graduation. This week when I weighed in I was happy, lost four pounds. I've finally been meeting protein daily and still working hard to get 64oz. of fluids in but doing better. Today, my wife and I took the dog for a walk at the lake it was good to get out with her.

This weeks goals will be to drink enough and find some time to exercise a bit. Well, I need to get ready for bed, since I have an early morning tomorrow.

Kind of bummed...

Mar 17, 2009

Weighed in yesterday and I only lost a pound, needless to say I was pissed off. However, it's more at myself because I have struggled to get enough protein and fluids in daily. The past few days I have begun to meet my nuts protien goal but still can not seem to drink enough.

It does not help that I am so busy with school, practicum and work. At work I can not really drink except on breaks and at my practicum site I forget to drink because I'm so busy. This week I am really focusing on figuring out a way to meet the goals, so I do not have a repeat on the scale next week.

As if I am not busy enough, I joined the gym even though not sure how to work it in. Somehow, I'll work it in between everything else I am trying to do.

Need to blog more often...

Feb 27, 2009

So, here's an update. After surgery I ended up with pnemonia, then an staph infection at drain site. Finally, things seem to be normalizing. I do have bouts of  nausea mainly when I eat eggs or protein shakes. So, I contacted my Nut and she recommended I try soy protein. It seems to sit better in my pouch and helps me get more protein in.

In four weeks I have lost 24 pounds and will continue to weigh in on Mondays. I had my post-op follow up with Dr. Shina a few weeks ago and my drain site is cleared up and almost healed closed now. I am still struggling with getting in all my water, mainly because crystal lite and flavored waters sit and the flavors are overwhelming to me.

My left side has just stopped being extremely painful in the past couple of days. So, I would like to go to the indoor walking track starting this next week. As far as school goes I got a bit behind do to all my complications but my professor has agreed to allow me more time to turn in assignments. I also, have to start my practicum soon in order to get all my required hours in on time.

It looks like life is about to be a juggling act once again very soon.

Wish me luck...

Jan 25, 2009

At 3:30am we leave for the 2 1/2 hour drive to the hospital. I'm still a bundle of nerves but so ready to be on the losing side.
I have done the icky bowel prep thing, that stuff is just plain nasty. So, the throne and I have become well aquainted this evening. Hopefully, I will get a few hours of sleep, if I can calm down and just breathe.

My best friend called and wished me luck just a little bit ago. My brother is here, we went and picked him up this afternoon. The furry kids just love him, so we know they will be fine for a few days without us. My wife keeps reminding me to go shave, says I look like a mountain man. So, I suppose I will go do that shortly, lol.

Well, the bathroom is calling me again and I must answer to it. I'm sure that I will update before we leave in the morning.
