I was born FAT :) The doctor called me Tripple Ripple due to the fat rolls on my legs when I was born!!! I never really outgrew the Fat :) Mom always told me that if I lost weight when I was young, I wouldnt be a fat adult.
Well, I never lost it when I was young and my mother has never been a very supportive person when it came to my weight issues. Which I am sure has a lot to do with low self esteem and self image. As when I was a size 14 I think I felt fatter than I do now at a size 26!!!
I've always been "big" but in 1996 I finally had my own insurance working so I went to a doctor and that is when my antidepressant trip began!!!! By August of 2000 I was admitted into the hospital for a couple days and I havent worked since that day!!!!
I was diagnosed Bipolar and also ADHD as the years have passed! I was doing okay weight wise until I received a very bad county psychiatrist who apparently didnt care about weight gain as a side effect!!!! I didnt know why I was gaining so much weight!!!!
So after packing on about 80 pounds in one year it finally dawned on me that my medications (Depekote and Zyprexa) were NOT helping my weight!!!!!!
Now that I live in Bakersfield, I have a new doctor who is very consious about my weight! My weight is a very big issue when it comes to deciding medications!!!
I now have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP machine, I have high cholesterol, I lose breath easy when walking up stairs and such and now I have lovely pain in my ankles which I know is because of my weight. This very day I weight 310, my all time highest!!!!
After realizing that no matter what diet I do, I dont seem to lose much if any! My therapist asked me if I had ever looked into gastric bypass. I told him I've looked at the Fobi pouch years ago but nothing recent!
So here I am! After infestigating for a few months, I finally decided to go to a meeting here in Bakersfield for info on WLS.
I've done all the pre-op requirements in Bakersfield and they told me they found out that Medicare will NOT pay for the surgery at KMC (hospital) here in Bakersfield. SO.. I have the fun of finding a new doctors office!!!!
I have decided on Dr. Leports office in Fountain Valley, CA. I've looked at Fresno and San Diego but I decided to go with Fountain Valley!
I'm trying to decide which doctor I want and which hospital I want. I am hoping to make my co-pay tomorrow to get the ball rolling :)
I'm just hoping I make the right decisions as to the doctor and hospital I choose. Wish me luck! :)
