My nurse from UHC called me this morning and gave me the great new!  The big day is scheduled for June 8th. I do my pre-op stuff on June 3rd! I am so excited. I did not think this day would come. Thanks to God it's here!!

Ok so today Dr. Houston called me! yes ME  we did not talk very long, but long enough for me to ask some questions. He seem very confident in his skills to do the DS!  I am very excited to move forward with him and his office.  Dr. Houston only requires me to see his Nutritionist!!!  If everything goes ok then I should be submitting my paperwork to  UHC on May 1st.   

Well I've been meaning to blog a few days ago, however I've been posting like crazy. Anyhoo I am going to change surgeons.  YES, CHANGING SURGEONS!!!!! I just did not feel like Dr. Maynard was/is a good fit for me.  So I will be hopefully using Dr. Houston in Nashville TN.  For one, he does all his DS's lap. So for me that's a huge plus.  I called his office on Tuesday and I spoke with Pam Davis the Bariatric Program Director, she was very nice. She had me to fax over all my paperwork and some other stuff. I haven't heard back from them, but I am going to remain hopeful. ALSO... If thing don't seem to pin out with Dr. Houston then I may have to use Dr. Maynard,  BUT I know God is going to work it out in my favor !!  Pam Davis stated that she and the workers there will do everything in their power to make this a smooth transition for me and the other girls(from GA) that will be probably using Dr. H. (I really hope they work with us)

1 MORE SUPERVISED PCP VISIT (this will be my 7th one, only to cover myself) --This is really all I have!!

I am also seeing the Physical Therapist  Dr. Maynard wanted me to do, BUT GUESS WHAT??? I FOUND THE SHIT TO BE REALLY REALLY HELPFUL.... WHO WOULDA  GUESSED!!           (so I'm planning to keep going, because it's helpful,this is just for me, this is not  a Dr. H requirement)  I'll update more as things fall in to place...

Today I met with Dr. Maynard today and it was bitter/sweet. As I previously stated, I have only 2 more supervised diet visits left before I can submit my paperwork. Now HERE IS ANOTHER DAMN ROAD BLOCK      Thanks to my surgeon's office.  Now ya'll know I stated on previously blog months that I've been trying to get Dr. Maynard in network with UHC since January 15, 2009 and Dr. Maynard knows this as well. This was stated by me and another UHC member at EVERY damn DS meeting. So why in the HELL does he wants us (UHC MEMBERS) to start his 90 day mandatory program effected 3/31/09. That shit is crazy!    Keep in mind I have attended 2 of his DS meeting (February and March) and also his ass is just getting into Uhc network, thanks to me and this other uhc member. So WHY is OUR admission into his program starting 3/31/09!!!  This makes me want to change surgeon's and result to my B (Dr. Spaw).  On top of all that Dr. Maynard wants us to see a physical therapist and his nutritionist once every month for the next 3 months!! Isn't that a B!t$h!!! So that's another damn bill or more freakin money to spend depending on how you chose to look at it.  And another thing WHY in the hell do I need to see a DAMN PHYSICAL THERAPIST ANYWAY, they are freakin crazy!!!1   I really like Dr. Maynard but this is a bit much. He answered all my questions and he explained everything in great detail.  He is really a sweetheart and seem to have my best interest over all. However the way he is treating us concerning his program sucks big time!!!  So now I am contemplating either going to Tennessee or jumping through Dr. Maynard's hoops!   (I REALLY DON'T KNOW AT THIS POINT!!)  When does this ends, It seem like the closer I get to having the surgery, the farther away it seems! This has to get easier, it just has to!!!   Please PRAY FOR ME!!   I hope to post again soon with some better news.

Y'ALL IT OFFICIAL DR. MAYNARD IS NOW IN NETWORK WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY UNITED HEALTH CARE, HRA, SHBP!

YOU GUYS KNOW I WAS ON PINS AND NEEDLES EARLIER TODAY. THEN I RECEIVED THE GOOD NEWS LATE THIS EVENING AND I AM SO FREAKIN HAPPY. ONE STEP CLOSER TO BEING ON THE LOSER BENCH! SO NOW ALL I GOT TO DO IS COMPLETE DR. MAYNARD REQUIREMENTS, WHICH I HEARD IS NOT THAT MUCH! I AM SO DAMN HAPPY RIGHT NOW. IT FEELS ALMOST AS GOOD AS GETTING AN APPROVAL. YEAH BABY!!! "GOD" IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!

Well TODAY! I am sitting on pins and needles awaiting my FAITH! As I mention before TODAY is the big day for United Heath Care to meet to decide if they will allow Dr. Donald Maynard into the network. I am soooo praying that uhc includes him. Because I don't want to let anyone else perform my DS surgery. If I have to I will ,but I really want Dr. Maynard!! I'm trying to look at it as if it's meant, then it will be. It's so hard to look at it that way, when your "wants" soOO over-power your thought process. GOD is so good I do know and GOD will do what's best for me. I am also wondering about my cardio appointment  tomorrow. I really don't know what to expect. This too have me on edge. TODAY is just one of tho days!!  You know,  those days when you are just going through the motions and not much else! Well that's "me" TODAY

TODAY! I got some good news! You guys know that I really really really want to have the duodenal switch.  I have been attending Dr Maynard support group meets, and I really want Dr. Maynard to preform my DS surgery. ONLY he is not covered by my insurance company (UHC)...URRGH!!!  However I did speak with my bariatric nurse today and she told me that UHC is meeting on Monday to discuss including Dr. Maynard, other surgeons and hospitals in network.. THAT'S FREAKING GREAT RIGHT... My nurse told me that she will call me as soon as they let her know about Dr. Maynard status! I AM SO EXCITED, LIKE I SAID A LIL LIGHT SHINES THROUGH!!  YEA!! So that means I will probably know something before I attend his support group meeting on Thursday March 19Th. That's pretty awesome news too.!!!!!!

ALSO! today I found a plan B. Yes y'all a plan B. Every good woman has one. Lol!!  I was on Dsfacts.com today and  I FOUND DR. ALBERT SPAW IN NASHVILLE TN.(It's a 4 hour drive but I am willing to travel for the surgery I want!!!) He is a DS surgeon in fact he does  (LAP)-lap band and (LAP) rny too. Anyhoo he is in network for UHC!! That was even more awesome news for me today despite how things have been going for the last few weeks. I did a lot of research on Dr. Spaw and I am still doing research on him. He does not  have a program fee! Also great news! I spoke with the nurse at his office and she was incredibility sweet. So IF Dr. Maynard do not pull  through then Dr. Spaw is my next option. Oh did I mention Both surgeon's perform the DS OPEN! So I am pretty much OK "NOW" with the open. (I wasn't always OK with it)

I RE-FAXED OVER MY SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS TO MY BEHAVIOR NURSE AND SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WILL CALL ME IN A FEW DAYS AFTER SHE CHECK THE MEETINGS. I hope it's what she is looking for because you never know!!!  SO IF THAT CLEARS IN A FEW DAYS THEN I WILL ALMOST BE AT THE FINISH LINE!!!!! YEA YEA..
OH I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE A CARDIOLOGIST ON MARCH 17TH.  That it for now readers I will update when more comes!!  May you all continue to keep me in your prayers. Yes this too shall pass!

So yesterday I completed my 4th supervised diet visit. (2 MORE TO GO!!! YE!!)So I am that much closer to completing my insurance bariatric requirements. I spoke with my optum health nurse last Wednesday and she told me that UHC will be having a meeting the middle of this months to talk about adding more doctors into the network, and one of the doctor that she stated will be discussing is Dr. Donald Maynard. I am pushing so hard for UHC to cover Dr. Maynard, I think he is great and I truly feel like that I will be in the best hands if he perform my duodenal switch!

So Things I have completed this far! (UHC REQUIREMENTS)
4 supervised diet visit with my PCP
1 psych evaluation
1 nutrition visit (well this one is not a uhc requirement)
countless support group meeting
 
I am so ready to be lighter,healthier and happier!  So hopefully this time next year I will be lighter,healthier and happier! (ye!!!) I can do all this though Christ who strengthens ME!
 

 OK! I have United Health Care and I was just informed that the only requirements "NOW" is a 6 month supervised diet and 6 months worth of support group meetings. So far I have completed 3 months of supervised dieting and on my 2nd support group meeting. So that means that I am half way to completing the process. This insurance mess has not being easy. One reason is because I want to have the Duodenal Switch Surgery and there are only 2 surgeons in Georgia that performance the DS surgery . However, my damn insurance company is not covering them at this time. urrgh!!!! At this point I am just not gonna stress myself out about this. I am going to concentrate on completing the requirements and then HOPEFULLY one of the DS surgeons in Georgia will be covered. I am praying for that! So readers please keep me in your prayers.
