Yes-that's correct they cancelled my appt. To be exact they said they're afraid that I'll be non-compliant in my after care support!!

Mean time they got me for this nasty, expensive pre-op diet.
They made me pay up front for all of my post op stuff & now they're saying thet'll send me a check.

Screw them-I'll find someone else!!!

Just wanted to update everyone.

I have a date!!! It's 1/29/08. 

Wednesday I went to meet the Nutritionist, Exercise Physiologist & PA.  I started the MMPC pre-surgery diet. It's not the absolute worst but it's not that easy either. 
It seems like it's in my head. My body feels full, but my brain & mouth just don't. I notice that I eat if I'm bored & restless.... crazy right-I KNOW!!!

I haven't lost any weight it seems like..o.k. maybe I should give it just a little bit of time.

Today while at work, I received a call from MMPC (the doctor's office). Just out of the blue she wants to schedule me for the surgery!

Was she serious? I'm so used to being jerked around by these people I'm hesitant to believe her.  Looks like I have a date-1/29/08.

I'm scheduled to meet the Nutritionist/Exercise Guru on 1/16/08. I'll see the P.A. on 1/23 & the surgery will be early a.m. on the 28th.

I will not believe it until I have the I.V. in my vein & the  Anesthesiologist  
is pumping me with drugs!

So I immediately (like one hour later) sent my FMLA papers in (again). I'm still waiting for my empl to approve my papers that stated my surgery was scheduled for 12/26/07-that's the State...gotta love 'em!
I thought they would've retested me for the H.Pylori after I finish the meds next Tuesday but she stated that wasn't necessary. I'm wondering how they will know if the H.Pylori is actually gone??

First they were super careful  Now it's like...who cares!

I went to my 3 appts. The psych eval-of course she collected her $125 just to tell me "yes, you're o.k. for the surgery".

My regular doc sent my files over to mmpc & I had a consult w/Dr. Foote. At first he gave me a surgery date for 12/26, which would've worked out perfectly. Because we have 4 state holidays, I would've only had to use 6 days of leave time but I would've been off for a total of two wks. I immediately sent my FMLA papers over to HR (which by the way  you know anything that's government related takes forever to process). I was excited & really looking forward to not having to deal w/clueless people during the shutdown season. I even started my own version of the liquid diet (Carnation breakfast drinks twice a day). I fast & did my bloodwork for the surgery-I was on a roll.

STOP!!! Here it comes...I called those twits at MMPC too many times-everyone kept telling me different things. A week before the surgery, the doctor's scheduler tells me that the doc was confused & there was no way I was having my surgery on the 26th!

Pissed doesn't remotely begin to describe how I felt. I wanted to go to MMPC & kick those hoes' ass!! Incompetent bitches!!!
Then I received a call stating I had low vitamin D levels!!?!! Well ring the alarm because they said that's the reason why they couldn't do my surgery. WTF-are you serious? Punk ass Vitamin D??? Then the story changed to no I have a H.Pylori infection. So they scheduled me for an EGD ($$Cha-Ching).
Now I'm takin 8 mega pills a day to get rid of it (which btw research shows that there's not gaurantee that you'll ever get rid of the infection).

At this point I've began to research other facilities such as U of M, Borgess and a few others. Someone will be willing to take my money without all the bullshit their putting me through. I've done my 12 month weight loss attempt, I more than meet the other requrements for the surgery-at this point it's MMPC that's screwing around. Fuck em' they're not the only doctor's out there!

Tomorrow I am scheduled for three appts. 1st, my regular monthly exam with my doctor which will also mark the 12th consecutive visit! Yippee, finally!
Then I am am scheduled to meet with one of the surgeons, Dr. Foote @ 2pm. Now, I'm not sure exactly what is supposed to come out of this visit. Maybe he'll say I'm ready for dictation, I'm not sure but I'll definetly find out soon enough. Then I'll have a psych eval with the MMPC therapist. Now get this, the psych eval that I got back in October from Pine Rest, which btw is our local Psychiatric hospital,-you'd think their word alone would be good enough, but no. According to MMPC, you must use their psych eval & you have to pay out of pocket for it. I'm starting to believe that place is just all about milking you for the money. Their entire office can, at times, come off as though you're just another number in their assemble line of patients.

If you can think of any questions I should ask the surgeon, please send me an email.

I finally had my required eval from the quack dr.  last Tuesday. Needless to say, he said that I wasn't depressed  but that he did think I had ADD. Whatever!!! What does he know! He said that he would recommend me as a candidate for WLS & that I have a reasonable expectation of what's expected blah, blah, blah. 

So I guess at this point it's a matter of hurry up & wait. Just three more visits to my doc & after December 3,'07 I can submit my paperwork.

This past weekend was pretty good. Last Friday we had a couple of Birthday parties at work & of course I just had to get an ice cream cake from Cold Stone mmmmmmmm so delicious! Call me a crack-head but I will dance for Ice-cream!!!   I truly believe I will miss my best friend Ice-cream the most once I become a loser. My buddy Ice-cream has always been there for me!!

Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. Here's an update.

After trying since 7/11/07 to get an appt, I finally will go for the Psych eval on Tuesday 9/25. Of course both insurance companies are saying the other is supposed to pay. BCBS says, 'we don't pay for psych related items, thats strictly Megellan' & Megellan says, 'we don't pay for psych testing that's a requirement for Bariatric surgery'. Sooooo do I fake coo-coo just have one of them pay for it? I do know who's not going to pay for it!!!

Why do they make it so frickin complicated?

The insurance company makes you go through the hoops bcuz they want things their way! So in the meantime...I kind of thought abt how much money these ding bats have kicked out so far in the past 10 mos:

Where do  I begin. Today I have been searching trying to find information abt BCBS-PPO. I have the letter stating their criteria, but I'm not sure how to proceed from this point. I've been to three "free consultation seminars" for the surgery. I feel like I know what has to happen, but i'm just scared BCBS will say "NO". I don't understand why they want you to do 12 months straight? A**holes!
I really wish I could just schedule the surgery to take place w/in the next two months, before Thanksgiving would be excellent!  I feel like I'm begging them.  Well, I have to prepare for work tomorrow.... Actually i thought abt something that I HAVE to vent on. 

A person, who let's just say"she's a candidate for surgery" her damn self, well this individual came over to my area, & yes, I do keep snacks w/in an arm's reach just b/c people always ask me if I have something to eat.  Long story short, she walked over there & said "My gosssshhh, it must be nice to just eat whatever you want & not care abt it"! She proceeded to list all of the things she could & couldn't eat (as if-I asked her in the first place). Why do people feel the need to make fat jokes or exercising jokes to people just b/c they're overweight? Some people!
