Started my diet on Sunday. Did well all week until today, Saturday. I went a little over the top with eating bread with natural peanut butter. I think I had 3 slices. Tried the Leslie Sansone walking tape and did well. I like to exercise, just not motivated to do so. Did the walking tape on Tuesday and Wednesday night I woke up with terrible cramps in both my inner thighs. OUCH! Then it moved into my shins. Geez, I was sore for 2 days after that incident. Still a few more weeks before I meet with the nutritionist. This meeting should be interesting since our lap band group will be meeting with the gastric bypass group.

I was unable to attend the "Staple Club." Thursdays is not a good day for me. Starting Monday, I'm going on a diet as a requirment of meeting with the nutritionist for the next 3 months. Maybe I can lose a few pounds before surgery.

The Obesity Surgery Center has an “Aetna Program” designed for their Aetna patients. From what I understand this program takes you through the 3 months of required weight loss program that needs to be documented and includes all the tests that are required (EKG, sleep apnea, psych evaluation, etc.). The cost is $350. Yesterday’s nutrition class wasn’t informative. The nutritionist went over stuff any veteran dieter already knows…exercise more; eat less. My homework for the month is to document what I eat, my water intake and what exercises I do. She only requires 3 days worth of documentation, but I’m gonna shoot for the whole month. Our next meeting is on 7 November. Tomorrow I’m going to attend the “Staple Club.” This is a support group for gastric bypass patients. I’m going to attend just to see what it’s about. I don’t think the Center has a support group for Lap Band patients. I’ll go shopping this weekend to stock up on groceries so I can start this new way of eating on Monday.

Pinnar Surgical Associates gave a very informative talk last night. Most of the information was stuff I already knew. They gave a detailed description of the gastric bypass surgery. I knew I didn’t want that surgery, but I didn’t realize it was so drastic. So I’m glad I chose the lap band procedure. Also found out I can’t use Pinnar because they’re out of network. I have an appointment on 2 October with Dr. Tran.

I'm 5'8", 260lbs with a BMI of 40. I will be attending the info session for Pinnar on Tuesday, 19 September. I'm excited to see exactly what they have to say. I've been considering WLS since my sister had a gastric bypass 3 years ago. It's because of the way her procedure went that I knew I didn't want that kind. So I searched for an alternative. I heard of lap band surgery several years ago. Then a few nights ago I saw a T.V. ad for Pinnar and their information session. So, I called the toll number and set a date for the info session. I'll let you know how that goes.  Even though it says my surgery date is/was 9/19/06, i haven't had surgery yet. Not sure how to fix that.
