No Change
Aug 31, 2007
I've been travelling a little so my exercise routine is a little off. Will get back on track now that I'm back home.
Even though I haven't lost any more weight, I do feel good. And I'm told by staff at the YMCA that the way I'm doing things is a good way. I may not need to had surgery for excess skin hanging. Some of my clothes are alittle looser my daughter says I should start to buy some smaller one's I'm just not ready yet. They were tight to begin with they are beginning to fit the way they were intended to fit.
This journey is an amazing one being on the loosing side of life is just wonderful.
The "FILL"
Aug 06, 2007
I'm down to 215lbs. I like the scale in the office. It tells you how much water is in your body, how much, muscle lean body mass , fat etc. Compared to my visit before I'm going in the right direction Melissa says.
Now with the "Fill" I hope to have some restriction and some more weight loss.
4 weeks Post-Op
Jul 29, 2007
Now 1 month post op and feeling great. I am ready for that 1st fill though. My appetite is through the roof. Sticking to just protein though haven't seen a big weight loss. Surgery day weight was 229lbs today I am 216lbs. I guess I was really expecting like 40lbs gone by now. Not happening! Been working out at the gym daily and I am ready to get back to work.
You know the family was eating pizza yesturday, I've never been able to eat it but I sure had a taste for it. I didn't indulge though I cooked my fish and beans and had some fat free cheese. I had to move away from them though. I v'e been finding myself going to my room to eat lately. The constant watching me I guess was getting to me. I know it gotta shake it off deal with the "Eyes on me" syndrome, especially going back to work.

Eating and Loosin'

Moving around easier. Walking on the treadmil. Tried the stationary bike, but not so good with that. My upper leg hits my belly and causes discomfort. I've been doing better on the elyptical without using my arms. Getting 10,000 plus steps in a day. Yipeee and drinking my water. I really don't feel any restriction yet. I'm eating 3-5oz per meal plus sometimes.
Had my 1st fast food. Mc Donalds ordered the grilled chicken original sandwich took off all the bun lettuce and tomatoe and asked for a slice of cheese and sat there with my kids and took lnger than them to finish my piece of meat . Boy it sure tasted good. That was my 1st piece of whole chicken. I thus far have had no feelings of nausea or fullness. I guess I have to wait and see the difference when I have a fill.
I am loosing weight at 1 wk appt down 10 lbs............YES!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Blackstone was wonderful, her organization has it together. From the time of entering her seminar to post-op, I have no complaints just praises.
I knew what to expect every step of the way. Her office staff amazng if one couldn't get the answer switch board sent me to the right place. An d phone calls returned in atimely manner, I didn't have to do follow-up. They followed up with me. All as excited as me. In the Piper Center every one knows their role. They have the art of distraction down for the iv start, getting the fluid and meds in as scheduled, and just caring and conversation with me and my family. I have to tip my hat off to them. Recovery in room 5000 went wel also
Staff smiling and caring not running my family off was the best part knowing they could be right there at myside was what I needed the most.
1st walk thank God for the reliner chair best way to get up. ( I've moved from my bed here at home to standing and you catch a twinge real good wher the port is. No joke.) I was a little shaky and nervous even felt nauseated but continued cause I knew I needed to. Cool air is the key and deep breathing really helped. Tried to walk that 1st hallway it was too hot. Once I turned around and found the ortho unit I felt much better, even picked up the pace.
1st ice chip was glorious my mouth was dry and that cool sitting there on my tongue and melting um um um. Ok tried not to chug the bottled water but there is too much sipping. I maybe sipped 1/4 cup too quickly and felt the nausea....won't do that again.
Bring on the "Pee" was my hold for discharge. Took a couple of tries but when it came I felt better.
Discharge was fun, My daughter is a scrap booker so many pictures were taken of me and couple with staff, my son wanted to wheel me out and I felt honored he wanted to even be at the hospital. 14 year olds have other things to do, computers, games you know.
All in all a HIGH day for me. I will remember for the rest of my life. My new birthday June 28th 2007.
