CHEATER!!!!

Confession time...I just weighed in yesterday and then spent the whole day today off my diet.  It started by missing my breakfast drink and drinking coffee instead.  Going to work, missing lunch, then eating lunch at Lee's Pharmacy.  They have an awesome old fashioned soda fountain. I had a BLT on wheat bread, light on mayo, and stole a few fries from my girls.  Then, for dinner, we ended up at Olive Garden.  Salad, lunch portion of the chicken apricot venetian, and 1/3 bread stick.  How much weight did I just regain?  All the work for almost nothing.  Back on track tomorrow!   Promise...Promise...Promise.

1 week down - 1st weigh in

It's 1 week today that I started my the Ideal Protein diet.  I lost 7 lbs. and 3 inches.  I didn't eat all the protein I was supposed to because I either wasn't hungry or couldn't stomach the taste.  I tried the leek soup and it was gross.  I almost gagged on the vanilla pudding.  The cappucino wasn't so bad hot, but it was better as a shake.  The yogurt drink tastes better the more you drink it.  I'm going out of town this coming week so I plan to stay on my diet.  I ate Chinese tonight, a little cheat, on beef and vegetable stir-fry, light on sauce.

Gained almost 40 lbs. started Ideal Protein yesterday

I've gained almost 40 lbs. since my lowest weight of 155 lbs.  I need to lose the weight so I started the Ideal Protein program yesterday.  It is very restrictive, but so was my post-op diet.  I hope my pouch will shrink back to its post-op size.  I don't know if it's medically possible.  I signed up for this plan with a local doctor for the accountability.  I have to be weighed in every Friday.  Yesterday was my 1st day on the diet and I had a major headache (from lack of carbs).  I must admit that I've slowly overloaded on carbs for the last 2 years.  I gain weight walking by a bakery!  Two days now without carbs and I'm not feeling a craving for them.  We'll see how tomorrow goes.  Wish me luck!

Almost 2 years out and gaining. Advice please.

I can't believe that it's been almost 2 years since my last post.  I'm almost 4 years out and have gained about 25 lbs since my 1 year anniversary.  I just joined a program at a local gym where I work out with a group for an hour each day and follow a diet of 3 meals and 3 high protein shakes/bars as snacks.  I love Monday's circuit, Tuesday's boxing, and Friday's circuit.  I don't like spinning on Thursday, but Lesa, the leader, is pretty motivating.  Maybe I'll get used to it.  The first week I lost 2 lbs. of lean body mass and gained 2 lbs. of fat.  Sounds odd?  I'd appreciate any advice from anyone out there.

Boot Camp Delayed

We haven't met in a while because the personal trainer injured his knee.  I've used this as an excuse not to exercise at all.  I really got to get myself going again.  We're supposed to meet this coming Monday.  I hope so.

2nd Round of Boot Camp - Day #1

Wednesday was our first day back at boot camp.  We didn't get a chance to workout because the police stopped our trainer when he was setting up and told him he needed a permit.  The city wants a piece of the action!

We met today, Friday.  I was a bit late so only did 3/4 of the workout.  It felt good to get back into it.  I know I'll be sore on Sunday.  I'm glad I signed up again.  I signed up my 13 year old too, but she didn't go today.  She had plans with a girlfriend.  My 9 year old went with me, but she complained and didn't do anything.  She's the one that really needs exercise.  I hope that I can get her to do some of the workout on Monday.  We'll see!

Annual Physical - 2 years post-op

I had my physical exam with my PCP today.  She doesn't think that I should lose much more weight.  I agree with her.  I think about 15 to 20 pounds more and I'll be done.  My blood pressure was 112/68, pretty good.  I get my blood work results in 2 weeks.  I have my annual well woman's exam next week.  I still need to schedule my mammogram.  I didn't get one last year, so I need to make sure I get it done this year.

Fitness Boot Camp Day #6

We did the same workout we did the previous Friday night, August 3rd.  We ran a lap, then started the circuit of 20 lunges, 20 squats, 20 push-ups, 30 crunches, then run a lap.  We did this 5 times.  I had a time of 30 min, 46 seconds.  I beat the last time by over 6 minutes.  Whoo-hoo!

We have 6 more sessions.  We'll probably have rain next week so we may not get a chance to meet.  Tropical Storm/Hurricane Dean is coming!


Fitness Boot Camp #5

We were rained out yesterday, so we met today.  I missed all last week (2 sessions) because I was in Houston.  We had our measurements taken.  Today seemed to be an easier workout.  We did 2 laps, then worked with a medicine ball, and one of those big balls, and some exercise wheel.  I'll see how sore I am tomorrow.  It felt good to get back with the workout though.  We're going to meet again tomorrow if the weather holds up.  It's supposed to rain.


Fitness Boot Camp #4

Tonight we did a rotation of different exercise.  I was surprised that I was able to finish it in the time allotted.  The men had to finish in 38 minutes, the ladies in 45 minutes.  

First, we jogged 2 laps.  Then we had to do 20 lunges, 20 squats, 20 push-ups, 30 crunches, and then jog 1 lap, walk 1 lap, then redo it 5 times.  I finished 4 out of 7.  Not too shabby for a former fat girl!  I'm on vacation out of town next week, so I'll exercise for 20 minutes a day.  My trainer said not to do more than that. 

This is how committed I am to this program:  I have shortened my vacation from 2 weeks to 1 week so that I don't miss out on too many sessions.  I also actually left my husband and Annie at the night clinic to go to my boot camp, then returned to pick them up after I finished.  Annie swallowed a nickel so we were there getting x-rays.  We got there at 5:30 when they opened, but we were still only #8 in line.  We finally left at 9:50 PM.  Thank God the nickel is in her large intestine and should within the day or two.  We're like archeologists searching for hidden treasure.
