I have struggled with my weight all my life.  I have always been big. I was a big baby, my mom always had to cut the elastic on all my outfits so they wouldn't cut into my sweet rolls.Growing up I was always the tallest, biggest kid in my class. I guess I just developed and grew faster. I developed diabetes at age 10 and from there my health only got worse. At 16 I had emergency surgery because I had bacterial peritonitis I could have died from that and it left  a foot long scar on my abdomen. At 18  I had gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed also a big scar. Then I was hospitalized a week before my 1st surgery date for a kidney infection! No Surgery! Then at 19 I had pancreatitis twice, two different times two different hospitalizations. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced. My second hospitalization for pancreatitis I was in the ICU for a week, went into kidney failure and was in the hospital for 17 days. My weight and diabetes and other health problems due to my weight were actually KILLING ME! Ive always had doctors say you need to lose weight but these last times I ended up in the hospital doctors were actually telling me," you need to get your weight under control or you wont live past 40." Huge wake up call! So I decided  to try again for my surgery ,not for vanity reasons for my life. Surgery was the only way that I saw to help me get healthy and lose my diabetes and other health problems and prolong my life. So at 20,I finally had my surgery on 7/16/09 RNY laproscopically (woohoo my first with only tiny scars)and am looking forward to all the good things and good health that hopefully will come from it!
