Well I just typed almost my whole story and I accidentally hit a button
and it took me to a different page and I lost it. So here goes again.......
I've been heavy most of my life but especially since junior high school.
I'd diet and lose and then gain it back like a lot folks I've read about here.
I feel like I had a good life though. I finished nursing school and felt
successful and really enjoyed being a traveling nurse, made a lot of
friends and seen a lot of the states. I then met my 1st husband and
eventually we settled down and started a family. I have 2 wonderful
kids now 17 and 15 that I LOVE dearly. I soon realized I was married to an
alcoholic and life with him wasn't so good anymore but I stayed because
I was able to be a stay at home mom for my babies. I think that is when
food really became my best friend. I did eventually divorce him and get
out of that situation. I thought that was it for me...I'd never marry again!!
Well wouldn't you know God had another plan for my life. LOL Almost 2
years ago I met an absolutely wonderful guy and we have been married
over a year now. It's a whole lot different this time because we absolutely
adore one another.
I first started investigating WLS in 2005. I thought I'd like to do the RNY.
I called my ins. co. and they said they covered, I was soooo excited and
couldn't believe it. I went to a seminar and it sounded kind of scary but I
needed to do this for my health. I had recently been diagnosed with
diabetes and high BP. I had to call my ins. co. again and this time they told
it wasn't covered so I knew there was no way to have it done and just
kind of forgot about then. Recently a friend at work started talking about
having the band done so I started investigating. She was encouragng me.
I knew I'd have to pay unless my DH new insurance would cover it. I was
hopeful since it was UHC and they usually do but his had specific
written exclusions. So I obtained a loan after my seminar and now have a consultation scheduled 1/30/08. I can't wait!!!!!
I have the support of my hubby and kids now and am ready to do this. I
can't wait for my consultation and to get my surgery scheduled. I'm hoping
it will be quick since I'm self pay.
