No More Turkey Neck!

Aug 03, 2011

I am so very pleasantly surprised!  I am approaching 3 years out from GBS and this summer, I noticed my body has remolded and I no longer have a turkey neck!  Soon after surgery, all of my tops were mock turtle necks. I needed to hide the saggy skin under my chin.  But this summer, I am back to wearing low scooped tops as I no longer have a turkey neck!  Its amazing how resilient the body can be!

I still have bat wings, but its ok as I do not go sleeveless.

I still have flubby thighs, but I have always liked tight stretch capri leggins.

I still have saggy udders.... but I've always had saggy udders.

I am so happy not to have the turkey neck as now I can show off my very apparent and sexy collar bone!!!

Dined Out Last Night!

Aug 03, 2011

Approaching 3 years out and my little pouch is still working! I went out to dinner last night with my brother and had fried calamari, a chocolate martini and water.

I actually ordered more food like roasted swordfish, mashed potatoes, and a second martini but did NOT TOUCH any of it! I gave it all to my brother to eat at home.

I am just so happy my little pouch is still working!  Years ago, I would have eaten everything I ordered!

My Birthday Weekend - June 2011

Jun 19, 2011

I really looked forward to my Birthday weekend of 2011. This was a fantastic weekend!

Friday- 1/2 day at work, son spent the night and I had a doctor's appointment, all went well!

Saturday- I was up at 4am to prepare my birthday luncheon:  spaghetti, baked beans.  I also had barbeque baby back ribs, country ribs, bratwurst, burgers, chicken drumsticks and cake.  Beverages consisted of sodas, punch, filtered water, and martini's.
I attended a church planning meeting and took my new Nikon camera to snap photos for the website.
Then I headed home to entertain and host my Birthday luncheon.
Later, I took my son home and then went powershopping!!!!

Sunday- I went to church, then to the cementeries where my parents are laid to rest.
I went to visit my sister, then I totally relaxed at home.  I had a nice salad, glass of Merlot, Cannoli cake and watched TV.

I am off Monday, June 20, 2011... YES!!!!!!

The best thing is that I ate very little food and when I did eat, it was Subway salads!!!!

Cold Hands/Cold Fingers in June!!

Jun 13, 2011

On Saturday, I attended an outdoor grand graduation ceremony.  I arrived at 9:30am. Even though it was the month of June, its was cold, rainy, cloudy and a bit windy at times. The ceremony was very nice.  But by 10:30, I was so cold, I could not bend my fingers!  By the lunch break, my fingers were so cold and stiff, I had to eat my sandwich like a BEAR!  I never imagined this type of consequence from rapid weight loss.... loss of fat insulation from my fingers.  Not an issue in the winter months, but JUNE????  LOL!  Lesson learned... Carry gloves at all times to compensate!  Even though my fingers were frozen, I say NO THANKS to fat insulation!

I regained sensation and movement in my fingers about 1 hour after arriving home.  I left the graduation ceremony right after lunch.  The ceremony was not concluded until 4pm!!!!

June 5, 2011- The Week in Review

Jun 10, 2011

I had a pretty decent week.
Had a busy and very nice Sunday in church. I had salad at Fellowship.
Work week was busy but very productive. Found another fantastic salad bar near workplace, supervisor took us out to lunch.
Wednesday had problems with fridge! But I have a good electrician and had electrical issues resolved Friday afternoon.
Saturday I head to nephew's graduation then time with son.

No overeating. Ate nice salad from evenings from Whole Food Market.  I'll keep that strategy as long as possible.

Victim of Vanity Sizing?

Jun 07, 2011

I think that I am a victim of vanity sizing.  Vanity sizing, also known as size inflation is used to refer to the phenomenon of ready-to-wear clothing of the same nominal size becoming larger over time. Many commentators have suggested that "vanity" sizing, as its name suggests, is designed to satisfy buyers' wishes to appear thin and feel better about themselves.

I purchased some demin shorts and Lee's jeans , size 8 petite from Walmart last week.  They were a perfect fit!  I have had some weight flucuations, so I was pleasantly surprised, pleased and proud of my size!

Now I know the clothing may have been made larger to make me feel good..... hence vanity size.

OK, the dieting continues!

Update for June 2011

Jun 04, 2011

I picked up Kellogg's protien shakes today in vanilla, strawberry and chocolate.  Will use as a snake replacement this month.  Birthday coming soon.  I must  reach  my goal!!!  YES!!!

I purchased some denim shorts - size 9 and pants size 8.  Nice sizes, but I am still obsessed with reaching my goal weight.

I am now hooked on raw tuna and avocado sushi.   Should not be too high in calories.  I'll see.

National Weight Control Registry

Apr 24, 2011

I am noticing folks are asking about information on long term weight loss with gastric bypass.  We all need to actively contribute data into this science.  Gastric by-passers should enroll in the National Weight Control Registry.  This registry on collects data, not give advice.
