I've made the decision to have RNY. I've been approved. I have my orientation and Education class on 3-10-09. I don't know when my appt will be with my surgeon, nor when my surgery will be. These forums have really helped put my mind more at ease in the past couple of weeks. Some of them have really helped me, and some have made me question my decision, but that only makes me more sure of my decision.
I've been overweight most of my life. I've lost weight many times, only to gain it back, plus more. I can no longer afford to do that, put on extra weight. My health has suffered and now is the time to do something. I've got support from my family and most of the friends that I've told. I'll be sure to keep visiting OH for the next couple of years.
I went to my education class on March 10th. What an enlightening experience. My brain is overflowing with facts but thank goodness they gave me a three ring binder in which to keep all of the information. I didn't realize just how many vitamin supplements were required after surgery. I really hate taking pills that are crushed. The taste really makes me gag. The chewable vitamins aren't bad, but I'm sure the others will be. It's just another thing I'm going to have to wrap my mind around and do. I have an appointment to meet with Dr. Genaw, the surgeon, on April 20, 2009. I have to go get my bloodwork, my chest x-ray and my ekg before I meet with him. Once I do that and meet with the bariatritionist I'll get my surgery date (as long as the labs come back good). Looking forward to everything. Surgery will hopefully be in May.
