Robert Blanche

"My previous doctor wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot pole when I said I was going to have wls in Mexico. Dr. Blanche not only took me on but took initiative to learn all he could about bariatric needs and even mailed me an info packet to follow up with. My first contact with him was years ago when my doctor was out. He put me off because he harped on my weight and wouldn't let up. He impressed me when he called me that night to apologize. No doctor ever does that. He is passionate about weight loss and will do whatever it takes to help you lose it, but he won't let up on you if you don't do something to really get it off. I definitely get from him that he is frustrated by how many people he sees who have ailments due to obesity, and he knows exactly what is going to happen to them down the road. I think he now is understanding that those of us who are obese also share those frustrations and concerns but that we have a very hard time getting it off. "

Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange

"I had done Atkins for years before wls and one thing is I missed orange juice. I adore this drink. It is very much like a cross between orange juice and Sunny Delite. It really has a fabulous flavor, and I'm not an orange drink flavored fan. The one caveat I have though is that for some reason sometimes it gives me diarrhea. I don't do the whole dumping scene with it, but I do get immediate results otherwise. Someone else mentioned to me they did this when they drank it too fast. This might be with me too as I did do it quickly. Just a fair warning. :o)"

Orange or Tropical punch drink

"First, the orange is yucky but the tropical punch is divine. The only reason the orange is yucky to me though is because I don't like orange flavored Jello or Kool Aid. As for the punch, well, if you have ever had Jello as a drink hot and liked it, you will love this cold! There is absolutely no funky aftertaste and it is the best source of liquid protein I've found. The reason the nutritional value wasn't rated excellent is because it is a gelatin based protein it doesn't have any of the added amino acids you can find with whey drinks. But if you can't gag the other stuff down, this does the trick. I figure I can get my aminos by the food I eat or suppliments if I need to. The protein really helps me function better and have more energy. It's worth it!!!"

Alejandro Aguirre

"<b>Dr. Aguirre in Ensenada, Mexico is one stellar surgeon. He has been very easy to deal with - unlike most doctors and surgeons here in the US. He doesn't make you lose weight prior to surgery, he doesn't have you on a liquid diet for 3 months, he doesn't require you to jump through his hoops. He cares greatly about people and obviously takes great pains to ensure we all have a good experience. He is always accessible and goes out of his way to ensure you are doing well. Call him on a Sunday? Yup - I did. And I apologized all over myself, but he was so very kind and caring - AND reassuring. Additionally, his daughter Rosella has taken on many tasks to help ensure the patients are comfortable. She is always available as well. I, like pretty much everyone before me, had a wonderful experience and I truly am indebted to him for saving my life. Dr. Aguirre is a highly skilled surgeon who performs only 1 surgery a day about 4 days a week. I assume he does it this way because he values having a life outside of work, but he also has more time to make available to his patients outside the OR. The fact that I know he isn't performing more than 1 surgery a day (unless there is an emergency) comforts me and makes me feel like he saves his energy for each patient. Here is a man who knows not to burn himself out. Dr. Aguirre is quickly forming a fan club of sorts due to his care and skill. Having had this surgery 1 month ago now, the more I read about other people and the ways their surgeries were different, how they struggle with head hunger, how many of them have serious complications, I say now that I would also go back to Dr. Aguirre in a heartbeat. I have had people tell me that even if they had insurance, they would still see Dr. Aguirre. I didn't think I would feel that way, and I have to admit if 100% was paid, I would have indeed stayed local, but if I had the money to pay out of pocket for any surgeon anywhere, I would choose, again, Dr. Aguirre. I feel fabulous in so many ways.</b>"

Cardiomed Hospital Of Mexico

"I had a good experience here overall. There were a few glitches, but I was prepared for worse I think. The shower in my room was not installed properly and spurted out every direction but down, and it only ran either hot or cold. Speaking to others it appears this was an isolated problem. The rooms are quite small but nice. They have marble and private bathrooms at least in the upstairs areas. The staff is accomodating but speak very little English. Good idea to take a Sp/Eng dictionary in case you need it. Only complaint is my veins are injured from the IV's placed. I was poked numerous times and each hand now has injured and sore/ropey veins. "

Metabolift Thermogenic Low Carb Chocolate Mint Bar

"The chocolate mint bar is chewy and decadent. Way back when I originally posted about this, I was just doing Atkins waiting for surgery. The bars at that time had ephedra in them, but since it has been banned, I don't know if they are going to continue making the bars or not. I found no benefit in having the ephedra anyway, so if they still are around, they are a yummy source of protein and worth a try. "

EAS AdvantEdge French Vanilla Carb Control Shake

"This is the best of all the EAS low carb shakes. It also freezes up into a thick shake nicely in the door of the freezer for 2-4 hours. Makes a good iced latte as well. I use this instead of milk sometimes when I need that texture."

EAS Protien Bar Low Carb

"Several flavors available. All are pretty good. The cookies n cream tastes like Oreos. Excellent bar as far as protein bars go. They have a good texture and did a good job of hiding the protein flavors. Lots of glycerin, however - which could stall you on Atkins."
