My name is Jessica and I'm 21 years old. I had Gastric Bypass RNY on May 10th, 2010. I've lost 64 pounds since my decision in August of 2009 to have the surgery. I made my decision after a long day at an amusement park... I remember feeling tired from walking all day and just so upset and beaten that I didn't get to have any fun. I could not fit on a single roller coaster... I could barely fit on the Pirate Ship. I came to the realization that I was letting my life pass me by. I was sitting on the sidelines watching my friends and family do the things that I couldn't do. After sitting in the car for a good 20 minutes just crying, I had made my decision.

Both of my parents had Gastric Bypass RNY about two years prior, and often would ask me when it was my turn. Every time they asked I had a new excuse, a new reason to not do it... I just wasn't ready. This time, though, I was ready. I got approved for bypass, started watching what I was eating, going to the gym, and preparing mentally.

On May 10th I went in without a single twinge of nervousness. I wasn't scared, or worried, or anything like that. I was excited. I woke up later that afternoon, groggy, but happy.

Now, almost a month later, I'm under 300 pounds and feeling better than ever. I'm not going to say that every day is easy. My head hunger still tries to sabotage me, and I definitely have a hard time with getting in all of my supplements... but I'm happy that I made this life change.
