My name is Jeff Howell and I had RNY on 28 Jan 2015. I was at a point in my life, when i just wanted it to end... I hated everything about me and nothing seemed to work.
I joined the Navy in 1991 right out of High School and retired in 2012. I was not happy with retiring and my last duty station was in Italy without my Family, so I ate myself into retirement. When I returned home, the depression kicked in and I did what I only could do - eat my way thru my issues. Over the next couple of years, I went from 200-300 lbs and really hated myself.
Went into the Doc Jan 2014 for Hernia screening and saw a brochure for the Lap Band and thought, that would be cool, as it would force me to stop overeating...
So a year of appts and going to the support groups - I was ready for surgery and selected Jan 2015. Man, I could not be happier!
So after the first 4 months I lost 100lbs and by my 8 Month, I was down to 140 lbs weighing at 160. I actually started to freak out as I was to skinny and worried about my health... I can say now I have been steady around 175-180 for the last year. My goal is to get back to 170 as it is just easier for me to be a runner at that weight.
I have developed the love of Running and have made it a goal to run in Boston within the next few years...
Thank you and look forward to learing from you all and to help in anyway I can!
