Feeling better...I think
Nov 01, 2007
Well, I think I am beginning to feel somewhat better.
I think that Nexium is helping a lot! I have not thrown up as much
and I am eating different foods here and there without too much
difficulty.
I started the new job on Monday. I like it so far. It's definitely
less strenuous... then again I haven't really gotten to the
paperwork part of it yet...lol.
Well, lets hope that I keep feeling better!! I can't wait for the holidays,
Christmas is my favorite holiday and I'm already itching to decorate!!
WOO HOO!!

PPI
Oct 27, 2007
Well, today I broke into the 240's.
Thats great! I'm just a half pound shy of losing
70 pounds.
I have to reschedule my appointment with Dr. Schram.
I'm starting a new job on Monday and a lot of things will
be put on hold for a while.
I have been taking proton pump inhibitors (PPI) for about a week now.
They seem to be helping some. I ran out of my Nexium prescription,
so I had my hubby pick up some Prilosec OTC. I took that
yesterday.
Yesterday was my worst day of the week so far, I think.
I barfed and then couldn't eat. Finally, I successfully ate
some ground sirloin at the end of the day and kept it down.
Today, I am feeling "OK". I haven't eaten yet, but will try to soon.
My clothes are getting so loose on me it's going to be
time to buy new. I think it's past the time actually. I bought
a couple pairs of scrubs for work. I used to wear a 3x-4x scrub pant
size. The new ones are XL. BIG difference.
The tops I wore were 3-4x. The new ones are 2x. I guess I still have
quite a chest there, LOL.
Well, that's it for now.

Had to change my height...
Oct 22, 2007
Well, for some reason... when I went to my pre-op eval for the surgery
I was only 5'7".
I thought I was always 5'8".
I don't know if I was slumping or if my butt
was weighing me down but nevertheless...LOL ...
I went for my physical today for the new job
and I was 5'8" again!! How funny...
So, I had to change the height on my ticker,
which of course just makes me happier!!!
I made stuffed cabbage for the family tonight
(per request). I wasn't gonna try to eat any
but ended up going for it.
I chose the tiniest one. Actually, it went down pretty
smooth and I didn't throw it up.
It's baffling me...
I'm either sick all the time or not sick for brief
moments. I guess this was a brief moment
when my tummy allowed me to eat something
other than soup or ground sirloin.
Anyhow, that's it for now.

NEW APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED
Oct 22, 2007
Well, I called and got scheduled
to see Dr. Schram on Wednesday morning (24th).
I hope that I will get some answers about these symptoms
and ultimately they will be resolved.
I did not go to work last night. This really sucks.
I woke up this morning still sick. I have to go for a physical
today for the new job. I start that next Monday.
At least in orientation, I'll be in a class-room setting for a bit.
I will have to wait for my insurance to kick in if the doc can't
schedule another EGD before the 29th. So, I guess I'll be sick like
this for another month. We'll see.

Here I go again
Oct 21, 2007
So, last night at work I had to vomit several times.
All I had to eat yesterday was maybe 1/4 cup of soup and some
water here and there throughout the day.
I have no appetite and I am vomiting again. I am calling the doc
tomorrow to see about getting this fixed...again. I have been reading
up on the gastroesophageal/gastrojejunal stricture that may occur
after WLS. Unfortunately, these sometimes require more than
one endoscopic dilation procedure. I believe I am going to need
another one.
So, I am not going in to work tonight...I will be calling the doc tomorrow...we'll see what happens.
I'm trying SOOOOOO Hard!!
Oct 18, 2007
I'm trying so hard!! UGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!
I know I have been sick and all, but does anyone else have
an uncomfortable feeling "around their pouch" like... ALLLL the time?
I had the stricture repaired, and I'm slowly fading back into
not being able to eat again. WHAT'S WRONG WITH MEEE?????
I drank PLENTY of fluids yesterday but all I could eat was ground
sirloin again, and my hubby had to force me to eat it. Well,
I guess that's not a very pretty picture there... he didn't really
"force" me it was more of a gentle coercion.
The second day of work was an absolute KILLER. I was literally running
from the time I got report (730pm) until about 3:45am with nothing to eat
and no break. Finally, I was able to sit and chart and I warmed up
some soup to try and eat while I was charting.
After about 3 bites, an EKG strip fell in my soup. so....so much for that!
I came home and literally collapsed. I slept for hours that day, and
ended up sleeping all night too. I was exhausted.
I'm glad I'm starting a new job on the 29th.
I've decided to stay contingent where I am working now, just to
keep up on critical skills, and of course if the new job doesn't pan out,
I'll probably go back to full time where I am now.
Who knows?
My hubby is starting to get worried and yesterday wanted me to call
the doc. I refused, of course. I don't want the doc to think I am
insane and I simply LOVE EGD's...LOL.
Oh, I thank you all for your support, especially Steff. Just know that
I am so happy for all of you that are doing so awesome!!!
I'm here with you, I may feel like crap, but I'm still smiling!!!
Hey, at least my BMI is now UNDER 40!!!!
I wouldn't "automatically" qualify for the surgery
anymore!!!! YAY!
HUGS!
BACK TO WORK
Oct 13, 2007
Well it's back to work tonight.
I don't know if I'm ready for it or not.
I'm certainly not feeling like myself yet, but I am doing better.
I threw up again last night. I ate a couple of bites of food and up it came.
I don't know what the heck is wrong with me.
Anyhow, we'll see how it all pans out! My clothes are definitely looser!
Big hugs,
Jen
DILATION PROCEDURE DONE TODAY
Oct 09, 2007
Well, today was a big day for me. I had my dilation done. My wonderful doctor scoped me and found that the opening to my pouch was only 5mm in diameter.
So, he dilated it to 15mm. The whole thing took about 10 minutes and I don't remember a thing. I had no pain or anything.
After I woke up, my hubby brought me home. 4 hours after the procedure I was allowed to eat. So, I tried to eat dinner. Guess what?? I didn't puke!!! I was able to keep the very small dinner down without a problem.
It's much easier to drink water now. I'm able to get a lot more in!!! I know that's a good thing!!!
Well, for now.... I'm going to keep taking moment by moment and I'm praying that nothing changes. I hope that this worked!! So far, it's lookin pretty darn good!!!
Hooray!

99 Pounds To GO!!!!
Oct 06, 2007
Well, I'm down 3 more pounds.
Finally!!! I have broke the "over 100 pounds to lose" mark!!!
I have 99 pounds to lose!!!! WOOOO HOOOO!!!!
I still haven't had my dilation done, as it was postponed until next week.
I don't have a date yet for that. I feel pretty good this morning, for once.
I am holding down some ground sirloin and orange juice (diluted).
I'm drinking as much water as I can. I'm just taking it slow.
I tell you, I can't believe on TV or in public the amount of food people eat in one sitting. It blows my mind.
Whenever we used to go out to
eat, I used to ask the waitress,
"Is it big?" (regarding the portion size),
in hopes that the meal was sure to satisfy the
grand canyon.
Now, I ask hesitatingly, "How big is it?", in hopes that it's smaller than
a kids meal. What used to look like an appetizer to me now looks like
a full-blown Roman feast. Somebody give me a feather....LOL.
My hubby is so awesome. I just thank God for him. He is so supportive
and attentive. He's helped me through every bit of this healing process
and all my suffering.
I'm still not back to work, I'll go back a few days post-dilation.
Hugs,
Jen
