Holy Moly Lori! You poor thing! I would freak at the thought of a needle in my lung while awake too! I hope things turn around for you real fast!

Hi Lori, Sweetie, you're one tough cookie handling all these hurdles so well. Believe me when you finally get to suck on those ice chips, they're going to taste better than Dove chocolate melting in your mouth - take it from one who knows. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. God bless you.

Lori, I'm rooting for you!!! Hang in there. You'll make it! Just close your eyes and dream of shimmy-ing into a pair of size 10 jeans. That'll make everything hurt a little less. I'm sending prayers your way!

Lori, sweet lady, I am sending hopeful thoughts for icechips your way! That will be the best ice you've ever eaten in your life, huh?! Hang in there! I promise things will get better!

Per Lori on the Dr. U. board: Don't know if my earlier post went or not. Today was a bowl of cherries - Blew the iv and had a second one put in by a very skilled nurse. Did not hurt at all. Chest Xray, another leak test, thank god no leak, so ng tube taken out. Still no ICE chips, maybe tomorrow. Dr U came in tonight and removed right drain. Hardly felt that at all and then told me tomorrow they will put a needle in my lung to relieve the pulmonary effusion. I told him he needed to knock me out for that!I don't want to remember that. Anyway, still holding on to my sanity, whatever is left at this point. Thanks for everyones prayers and support and pray for ice chips tomorrow!

Lori, Sorry to hear about the leak -- I know that Dr U is taking excellent care of you and *hopefully* it will all just get better and better from here on out! Saying a prayer for your quick recovery. :)

Per Lori from the Dr. U. Support Group: ok guys i'm back. Yucking tasting stuff for the leak test. Dr U right there and yes there was a leak. They took me off to surgery right then. Erika went in also. Coming out of that surgery was the pits, pain again, felt like I couldn't breathe and this time it was a semi that hit me! Anes Doc said I did great. Everyone absolutely fabulous and with smiles and ready to help in any way. The care in the US would not have been this good! So for me - ng tube back in for 4 more days, catheter for 1 day and no ice or liquids for 4 days which really sucks. And I am stuck in this bed until this afternoon. Dr.M waited for me the entire time I was in surgery to make sure I was OK. What an angel! Dr U had another emergency surgery after me- he's one busy guy, I feel honored to have him as my surgeon. I think I'll be tired of hospitals when this is said and done!
