Hi JP, Ok.... first a few thoughts - 1300 to 1500 calories per day is NOT a lot. If you are working out to keep muscle as you are losing, this is actually very little to take in.... You didn't get heavy because you ate 1300 to 1500 calories a day... You aren't alone.... I woke up out of surgery physically hungry and have always been able to eat much more than the average postop. Yes, you should see your surgeon and ask for an upper GI where they can determine if infact your stoma is truly enlarged. Even if it is, this doesn't doom you to weight regain. You didn't mention any basics - what was your starting weight, what was your lowest weight since surgery (and when did you reach it) and how much do you weigh now? How much have you regained and in how quick of a time period? If we're talking about less than a 10 lb increase, I wouldn't worry at all - it could be just water retention. If we're talking about a 20 lb increase, then that would concern me... For your meals, you should be focusing on dense, solid proteins to reach satiation as soon as you can and absolutely no drining with or for at least 30 minutes after each meal. What are you doing for exercise? Also, reading your profile, you mentioned you had an ulcer? Do you know where it is and was your pouch transected from the lower stomach? If not, food could be leaking into the lower stomach. Hope to be of support to you! Caroline -225 lbs @ goal
