I was talking to an old childhood friend considering WLS today.  It made me realize I have not posted an update in sometime.  I did bottom out to a weight that was too low for me and had to work to gain a little weight back.  Now it is a struggle to maintain that weight.  I finally got to have a tummy tuck in February.  My insurance approved the entire thing since I had to have a hernia repair at the same time.  The tummy tuck was pretty hard for the first three weeks.  The drains were not my friend.  Once I got them removed things went much better!  I will try to post some pictures soon!

...I was under the knive.  I can't believe what an amazing year this has been.  Of course, it is also bitter sweet since my parents were not here to see it.  I feel wonderful and I am no longer scared of the health risks associated with obesity .  I have met some really great lifelong friends along the way.  I have went from size 20/22 down to a size 2/4.  Thank You God for giving me this amazing new life. 

Today on the Texas Message board there is a thread concerning issues we are currently struggling with, so here are mine:

1.  Water, just don't seem to be getting enough in lately. 

2.  Exercise, not very faithful with a routine.  My family is very active, but I really need a routine.  Water aerobics starts on base at the end of the month.  I think I might give it a try.

3.  Maintaining weight.  My doctor's goal weight was 128, strict orders to come back in if I drop below 120.  This morning I hit my all time low of 121.4.  This really scares me.  I need to learn to put my body on hold.

I went for my 6 month follow up last week.  He thinks I might be having restriction problems.  I have food get "stuck" at least a couple of times per week.  Evidently that is way too much.  He gave me a script for Carafate and put me back on Nexium.  I am to do this and see him back in six weeks.  It has been one week and I have only had problems with food getting stuck once.  My pouch does feel better as I was having some burning, and this seems to have went away.  Now my concern is to stop the weight loss.  He wants me to come in immediately if I drop below 120.  Yesterday I was 122.  This is a little scary for me.  I have been working on increasing the protein drinks and Dr. W wants me to eat 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter per day.  We will see how things go.

This morning the scale said 128!  That is the goal Dr. Warnock set for me.  Yesterday was 6 months since surgery.  I never thought I would be here in only six short months.  I love this new life.  

I am now at the weight I was when the Air Force put me on the weight program.  I was 15 lbs over their standards.  I have never been so happy to reach the weight that the Air Force considers me fat.

Just 4 lbs to go and I'll be overweight and not obese anymore!

It has been awhile since I've updated.  It has been 9 wks since surgery, and everything is still going great.  I had a little trouble with my incision not healing correctly due to a troublesome stitch.  Dr W had to re-open the spot and let it heal from the inside out, but it is healed now.  I was a little disappointed because I wanted to go swimming during our Thanksgiving vacation.  We went to Branson, Mo, and had a wonderful time.  I think it was the best vacation we've ever had.  I was so proud of myself.  We went on a walk-through cave tour.  It was an hour long and lots of going up and down. 

I got home from the hospital today.  Surgery went really well, had a slight temp while there.  I was really sore yesterday after walking every hour on the hour.  I feel much better today.  My poor dog doesn't understand why I won't let me get near me.  His favorite place to lay is in my lap.  I am just glad to be home and on the loser's bench.

My huband got home last Saturday.  It has been great to have him home.  I am on day 8 of the liquid diet, just two days left.  Surgery is on Monday, can't wait.
