Welcome to my world! I thought I'd tell my story here (good plan, right, since the title of this section is My Story!). I'm 37 years old, happily married for 9 years with two amazing young sons. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life, at times being as thin as 145 pounds (I'm 5'8"), and at times being as heavy as 185 pounds. When I met my husband (a bilnd date at a Barnes and Noble after meeting on the internet!!), I was 156 (after a few months of phen-fen) and when I got married just 10 months later, I was 185 and it was all uphill from there!! It seems like every holiday and vacation, I'd gain 5 pounds or more and it would just never come off. Soon, I was over 200 pounds, the hightest I had ever been in my life but I was so content and happy, I didn't do anything about it. We had horrible eating habits, going out to eat almost every night, going to movies (complete with buttered popcorn) a lot and doing things involving food  all the time. My husband is naturally thin and this didn't affect him but I wound up at 250 pounds in 2003, when we began to think about having a family. I was worried about being so heavy and being pregnant but I knew I wasn't going to lose any weight (since I had been unsuccessfully trying every plan on earth) and I wasn't getting any younger so I didn't put off starting our family for me to try to lose weight. Fast forward 4 years and I have 2 healthy and amazing sons, truly the lights of my life, and I settled at 294 pounds after the birth of my last little boy earlier this year. I was achy and miserable and completely lacking in energy, and I knew I had to make a change so that I could be a good and fun and healthy mom, and teach my sons healthy eating and exercise habits. My very best friend of 24 years mentioned in early January that she was getting the LapBand and making an appointment with a surgeon, if I was interested. At the time, I was 8 months pregnant and beyond caring about much so I didn't even really answer her (we were at a party so it was a bit chaotic). Fast forward to March of this year and I asked her about it. She hadn't made her appointment yet and so we made one together. Once I researched the band, I knew it was what I wanted to do!!! And so, thanks to her, I'm on this path to health and a new life, and she's walking it right beside me, since she was banded the same day! :)
