It has now been just over a year since my surgery. It was the best hting I could have ever done for myself. I feel so amazing and have lost over a 140lbs. Dr. Magnuson is the best surgeon in my opinion. He did an absolutely wonderful job with the surgery and with my follow-up care. I was a little disappointed though when I found my incision was longer than 5 inches. It was more like 11 inches. No fault of his though, he had to do what was best for me and to make sure that the operation was a complete success. I had previously had my gallbladder removed laproscopically and this caused a lot of scare tissue that Dr. M had to remove to avoid later problems with my intestines. However a friend of mine that had her surgery done by him her scare is only about 4 inches, so he does stay as small as he is able to. Since the suregery I have gotten married and am now 7 months pregnant. The reactions you will get from people you have known after you have lost so much weight make you feel really great. I would have to say that my surgery was a complete success. I highly recommend it to people that have no other alternative to lose their weight and have health issues or possibly at risk for health problems. I do also recommend though for people with eating issues like emotional eating problems really get some counseling, because this surgery does for some people change the way you feel about food and for others it doesn't. If you have problems that make you eat, please seek help in addition to the surgery otherwise it will not be the success you are hoping for. Yes you will lose weight but then you will have another struggle on your hands of trying to control how much you eat and what you are eating to make you feel better. Good luck!
