Thank you Jillian Michaels!!

Jun 23, 2010

Did my 1st 5k in my training yesterday. 51mins and some odd seconds.
Not to shabby for week 1 of a new training method. I'm doing Jillian Michael's "sedentary to 5K in 8 weeks" program. Pretty much week one you start with 5 min warm up, then for a total of 20 mins you jog for 1 min then walk 1 min and alternate for the entire 20 mins. You do this 3 times a week. By the end of the first week you do 3 miles as fast as you can either walking or jogging. I did mine jog/walking mostly walking because my knees where hurting and I forgot to bring socks so my feet where going "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?"  I feel GREAT!! I totally recomend it to anyone who wants to try it.

I feel 100% better than my fustrated self yesterday.

So I've been stuck between 262-267 since January. I've been eating TONS better and now currently getting to the gym 3 days a week. I just dont get it. At least I haven't gained any of the weight that I've lost (20lbs since starting Nov 2007) but it's just fustrating to get this far and not move (3 years and only 20lbs lost = 6.6lbs a year). I'm about 100lbs over weight for my height.  If I dont get at least 10lbs off like my doctor suggested by Sept (as a start), I'll have to really start thinking about doing something. My doctor suggests that IF I can't get it off with diet and exercise I might have to consider surgery. Really sucks! I honestly do not know if surgery is my best option. It's so drastic, but at this point I really need to start thinking about my future.
Thankfully there is no diabetes, heart related problems, and no high cholesterol. My only problem is my knees, exercised induced asthma and anemeia.
Getting to the gym tonight to continue my 5K training. I'm currently at 1 mile in 15 mins.  Hopefully with this increased training some of this weight will start disappearing and will never be seen again....one can only hope.

My best friend had her surgery, May 24th. She's doing great and I'm so proud of her!! She's already down 25+ lbs from her surgery date.    She's currently on mush for food for the next 3 weeks, but I'm pretty sure she's already looking forward to actually chewing. She's in great spirits and moving around with more ease every day.  I'm so proud of her! Oh I already said that but I really am. OH other than losing the 25+ lbs she's no longer considered a diabetic!!

Training for 5K

Apr 23, 2010

Today I JOGGED 1.31 miles in 18min 55sec NON STOP! Last time I jogged/walked a mile was in High School for the fitness test and I think I did it in 20mins. My boss lent me his gps wrist watch and it measured and timed me at a 14 min mile WOOT

I never knew how far my little walk around the neighborhood at work was until today, I assumed it was about 1 mile but did not realize that it was just a tad over. So I figure so long as I can get those blocks and add a little more each time I get out there, come October I should be able to do the 5K without stopping to walk.  SO excited. Now all I have to do is get back on the gym bandwagon at least 3 times a week, it's harder than it sounds with working full time, going to school 3 days a week, homework and homelife. I'm trying.  NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!

March...err April 8th

Apr 08, 2010

First off where the heck did March go?!? My weight loss journey has hit a lovely platue(sp?) time to kick it up a step. Today i did my normal walk/jog during lunch and extended my stretching and added doing "stair stepping" on the curb. Feeling great now I just have to keep it up.
Second my best friends surgery has been postponed, hopefully she'll have a date as of the 14th of April. Long story

Third...well there is no third so I'll stop here.

March 2nd

Mar 02, 2010

So my plan of losing 20lbs by March did not happen, since it's March 2nd. I've only gone down 3 lbs. But it's ok. I'm ok. 3 lbs is a great start and I plan on losing much more in the coming months. So the new goal is 20 lbs by Memorial Day, which is 90 days away, totally manageable.

My best friend got her surgery date! OMG so siked for her!  March 25th, will be a nervous/exciting day.

Went to the gym last night  was able to do 2 miles in 30 mins on the tred mill (walking and jogging), 1 mile on the eliptical in 20 mins and 2 miles on the bike for 10 mins. That's the most working out I've done in a long time. I'm sore but it's a good sore. Plan on going to the pool tonight for a lighter workout, always good to have a day off, dont want to get hurt.

Day 9

Feb 08, 2010

O. M. G.! Who needs a gym when you have 32 inches of snow to shovel and move?!? That's pretty much what I did all weekend. With the exception of Polar Bear Plunging in my best friends back yard, I pretty much shoveled. On a good note, I've lost 3 lbs since last week!!! Offically down to 257!! I'm out of the 260's! WOOT WOOT!! Took forever, but with the support of my bestest friend, her partner, my other best friend and my family I would not have done it.  Love you guys!!

Only 57 more lbs til my goal of 200lbs!! Unfortunatly since Mother Nature decided to dump almost 3ft of snow on MD I was unable to do my walking or jogging for preparation for the 5K in March that I want to do. Hopefully the gym will reopen (they closed because of the snow and crappy roads) this week, but since there is another 8-12 inches on our way Tuesday, who knows when I'll be able to go again .  So shoveling and moving snow will do for my exercises.

Day 5

Feb 03, 2010

Woke up totally not in the mood to work out. But made myself get out of bed and to my Biggest Loser from Wii Yoga.  After I was finished I felt SO much better and energized.    I'm almost 99% sure that I'm going to join my best friends gym, Big Vanilla. No more excuses!! Waking up early to work out is fine and dandy, but I do not have a tred mill or any machines that will help tone my muscles like the gym does.  Plus even though I'm going to school for my Masters, making time for myself is also important and will help in the long run. Even though most days feels like I'm juggling way to many things  , I know that I will make it and succeed.

Day 3

Feb 01, 2010

OMG! The gym that my best friend has joined is amazing!! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put the name here but it's huge and has 3 pools, tons of aerobic exercise machines and tons of weight machines. Yesterday we went and spent almost 2 hours at the gym. I forgot what it felt like to do 20 mins on the Eliptical (sp?), boy does every muscle hurt! But it's a good hurt.  I'm there as a guest and I'm really thinking about joining. My delema is that I'm currently a student going for my Masters in Teaching and I really only have 3 days to work out properly at the gym. Will that be enough to join? I'm sure it will. I'm leaning towards joining, to support my best friends effort and to begin my own journey to get healthy.

Day 1

Jan 31, 2010

How is this going to work out? I hope with all my goals made.  My best friend is going to get gastric bypass in a few months and I'm really excited for her.  I'm going to be helping her with every step of this process. I've even started going to the gym with her to help with motivation and support.
