a few things...

Jan 26, 2011

On my flight home last night from Boston my ipod was dead so I listened to the Sirius radio on the plane. I randomly caught an old episode of Oprah on her channel that had to do with Transfer Additictions. The episode focused on people who had Gastric Bypass and after an extreme amount of weight loss had picked up addictions to things other than food such as, sex, drugs, booze, attention.....

Idk I went home last night and just kind of thought about it. They said that basically these woman thought that the key to mkaing them happy was just strictly weight loss and once the weight was gone they realized that it in fact was not the key to their happiness. Before I had my surgery the Dr. had sent me to a shrink for my pre-op and he basically met with me and said I was sound enough to have the sirgery done. The meeting took five minutes and he didnt really even ask me any questions. I guess my personal opinion of this is that it should be a more intense pre screening psychological evaluation. I felt for these woman. I myself def do not have any transfer addictions but I can relate to those that do.

Ok well other than that ramble. Today was a good day. I have been getting a little better at talking to new people and I even have plans tomorrow night to do dinner with some of my husbands friends. I am looking forward to that. It is getting easier by the day to be in a new place.

Also missy thanks for the email today. I am looking forward to meeting you.

As always OH you have been the best support I could ask for. The people on here truly care and are willing to listen and reach out to complete strangers in hopes to help them cope with the whole wls process. It really is a blessing
