I was an overweight child. I remember being 6 years old and was called my first fat name. I remained overweight until I was 13 years old when I grew 5 and a half inches in one year and discovered sports. Playing sports throughout high school kept me at the higher end of normal weight for my height. Although I excelled at sport my grades slipped horribly. My entire senior year of high school I could not play any sports, instead I had to go to regular school all day and then school at night just to make the minimum credits to graduate with my class. Because of this I gained 40 pounds and felt awful. Of course college was not a possibility for me so I decided to join the Army. I had to lose 30 pounds to go to basic training and went on a crash diet and exercise to accomplish this. Of course it backfired on me because once I got to basic my body was in suck shock from eating a whole meal that I gained 20 pounds in basic and then another 30 in AIT (job school). When I got to my first unit I did another crash diet  and exercise in order to get promoted, gained the weight back, did another crash diet and exercise to get promoted for the last time, and gained even more. I went my entire Army career after that watching scumbags get promoted and get awards just because they could pass the ridiculous weight standard when I was working my ass off for my unit but could never get any recognition because I wasn't in weight standards. I deployed to Iraq twice, the first time for the intial invasion, and again in 2005.I met my wonderful husband in the Army, and he is still a soldier today. He loves me for me, and supports me in everything I have ever done and anything I want to do. He is my superman. After we had our first child is when I met the criteria for morbidly obese. I gained 70 pounds in the pregnancy. I started the process of getting WLS but we decided to have just one more child before I went that route. A year and a half later we became pregnant with baby #2. I only gained 30 pounds in this pregnancy but I never lost any weight from our first child, and months after #2 I hadn't lost any weight. So now we have all the children we want, and I want a long health life, so in July of this year (2009) I started the process of getting WLS. I decided RNY gastric bypass was best for me, and my husbands supports my decision and will do whatever he needs to do to help in my success.
