5 Months out!
Jul 13, 2008
Well I am 5 months out today. I've lost 85 lbs now, I can't belive it. My confidence had increased so much it is amazing. I feel attractive!! I actually want to have my picture taken.
Things have slowly gotten busier for me. I'm hosting a WLS get togther this month at American Lake. This is the first time I've done something like this so I hope everyone has a good time visiting. Work has been busy to... I think some peoples toes are getting stepped on. LOL
Oh I just want to say I am soo looking forward to next month. I am taking my son to Silverwood for his birthday!! Waterpark and rollercoasters here I come!!
Well there is a new pic in the profile, let me know what you think!
What a trip!!

I got my labs back too from my 3 month check up. I am a bit low in protein, and vit A. I will also need to watch my iron. I have switched vitamins lately so I am hoping that the new one makes a difference. Still working on my protein though. Its so hard to eat enough, and I still struggle with supplements.
LOL Other than that I have had no comlications and I am loving my RNY!!!
Oh geez

Yea I am a slacker. LOL Like everyone else I have gotten busy and not updated here like I should. Any how life is great, I am down 51 lbs since surgery and 61 over all. I must say I am very happy with the way things are going.
As far as food goes shakes all of a sudden started to make me, I just picked up some new ones made of soy so we will see if that works any better. Eats are pretty good. I tolerate pretty much anything except chicken, shrimp and tenderloin are the best. Yummy!! Haven't tried pork yet I think it will be awhile before I get brave enough for that. Getting food stuck is painful, although throwing up is nothing like it used to be. It's like a big burp and out it comes, no bile or stomach acid.
Gonna take my measurements tonight and I will post them tomorrow. Along with some new pics.
1st checkup!!

Well I'm back!! LOL I know some of you want all the details from the hospital so I am going to post it here and try to on the washington board too.
Surgery morning went so fast, we got to the hosp, of course admissions hadn't sent up my packet, went down to get it came back and they took me right over to the prep area. Got changed into a hospital gown and bootys and got right over into a bed! They came real fast after that. I think god knew I couldn't stand a long wait, got my IV put in signed my paperwork a good dose of fentanyl and off I went!! I vaguely remember getting into the OR having them tie down my arms and legs and popping a mask on my face then lights out for me.
Next thing I remember being in my room with my hubby and Shelly there and the nurse making me walk around. I had alchol pads to sniff (they really help the nausea) and my morphine pump. Shelly told me I was holdin on to that button for dear life!! After that it was more walking, getting the cath out of my bladder (that was easy and didn't hurt a bit) walkin and a sippin. Everyone was real nice. I will tell you to keep up with your pain meds though don't wait till you are in pain to call call as soon as you get a twinge because sometimes it takes a while for them to get it to you.
I went in on wed and was home friday afternoon. The Dr said I could go thurs but I declined beacuse I has heard the 3rd day was the most painful and wanted to be there so I wouldn't worry. I'm glad I did. 3rd day is the most painful and I had a real hard time passing gas (finally not a issue) It was nice to be there and know that it was normal.
I really apprecite the way Madigan has nurses that have gone through the RNY procedure working on the same floor as you. It was great to have the nurse say that they has been through the same thing and they totally understand how you feel. Like good faries!!
Well I am tired and it is time to go to bed. Night!!
Almost there!

Well in a few more hours I will be on the otherside and in recovery. Having a hard time winding down and have been trying to keep the weepies away most of the day. I won't lie I am worried. I have never had surgery before and I have so many people depending on me.... Wish me luck everyone. I am going to take a shower and get goin with my antimicrobial wipes.

I am so grateful that I didn't have to go on a liquid diet or do bowel prep, I think I would have lost my mind. Don't get me wrong I would have done it if I needed to I am just grateful that I didn't need to.
Shelly has volunteered to be my angel, I wish I could do the same for her but she's having her surgery the day I am getting out. Good luck shelly!!
I am working on getting packed for the hospital and getting my house cleaned real good. I figure the boys won't be able to do too much damage while I am gone.
Well I better get going on my house work. I'll type more later....
