6 months out and at goal..........

i had sugery on august 6th last year and today i weigh 125lbs and i am at goal. i am so happy. i was waiting for the last lb to come off for about a week and today it did. i am so happy. i want to thank everybody on this board. and also to Dr. L for giving me my life back. My best wishes are with everybody that is waiting for there approval.

5 months update

Today it's been 5 months since i had DS. i weigh 130lb now and 5lbs away from my first goal of 125lbs.but i want to get to 110lbs which Dr. L think is ok. i can eat more then few bites now. like i can finish one egg in one sitting. i am scared to see that i can eat more then 3 bites. my mind is saying i won't loss rest of the weight if i eat more then 3 bites. which i know it's not true but i am working on my self. Dr. L told me that i have to eat more. i am off all the medicne, i only take thyrode medicne. i take all my vitamin no problem at all. i feel great. my kids are so happy. my husband always compliment me. everytime i dress up my husband tell me he thinks i weigh 100lbs and look great. I just love my DS. my best wishes are with everybody who are waiting for their approval and i want to thank all of you for your help.
oh i forgot to say that i can wear size 5 pants and small to extra small top. i love shoping now.

Four months update.

i had DS on august 6th. it's been 4 months i am now 140lb and lost 65lb since surgery and 85lb from my higest weight. i went to see Dr. L on nov. 21st for 3 months follow up and all my lab tests were good. Dr. L asked me how much i eat and i still eat few bites and i am statisfied and don't wanted to pust it. He said i have to eat more. so now i am trying to eat little bit more at a time. i can drink 64oz. of water no problem. i haven't had tea or coffee or pop for 4 months. i don't take blood pressure medicine anymore and also i don't take hipertention medicine either. i have a new goal weight. i need to lose 30lb to be at my new goal. which Dr. L said is fine. i wear size 7-8 now.i am so glad i had this surgery. my new goal weight is 110lb.
Three months update

It's been 3 months today since i had DS. i weigh 153lb now, and only 28lb from goal. i don't take blood pressure medicne anymore, i just feel great. i will be going to see Dr. L on Nov. 21st. is anybody else going there on that day, i would love to meet you there. i have no issue with gas or bowl movement. i can eat anything i want but only few bites. i just love my DS. i want to say thank you to all of you.
Family doctor's visit

Today I went to see my family doctor. I told him I am thinking about surgery to lose weight and what does he thinks about it? He said well you have to be really big and really sick in order to have the surgery. And then I told him I been doing a lot of research and i do qualify for the surgery but can't do anything without his help. I told him I am also member of OH group and I also attended the meetings as well and then I open the file that I took with me. I had all the paper about explaining DS/DBD, why i chose DS and difference between the RNY & DS. I took the OOC form and a template of OOC form so it would help him to fill the forms, I also made a chart of all the weight lose attempts I tried past 10 years and also wrote a cover letter. I told him I know you are busy so that’s why I wrote a letter on behalf or both of us and he was so happy that I did all my homework and he looked at the papers and asked me if I can leave all the paper with him and he will fill out the forms. I am so happy. Today is my birthday too and I got the best birthday present.

OHIP denied me

Hi
i applied for DS two months ago. they asked my family doctor why he think DS is good for his patient with BMI 4O they said DS is only for people with BMI of 60. so my doctor send them letter and today i got letter from OHIP saying that they denied my application because the information they needed was not enough according to the information they got from my doctor indicate the sugery was based on my reaserch not my doctors. i don't know what to do. i made an appointment to see my family doctor tomorrow
can somebody tell me what my doctor should write in the letter so he can convince OHIP ?
should i appeal or my family doctor should send another letter to them?
my BMI is 40 I have high blood pressure and hipertenstion and now i found out that i am pre diabetic too .
i did tell my doctor to mention that i might need NASAIDS i am not sure if he did or not.
i want to write a letter my self and take to my doctor so he can just sign and send it to OHIP. Can anybody help me what should i write? please

yesterday OHIP denied my application for DS. i stayed up till 3 in the morning and put together a new package and i went to see my family doctor today. he signed the forms and i asked him to write another letter. so he said monday he will send all the paper to OHIP. i want to say thank you to every body for your help. can you please wish me luck for DS approval. i hope this time OHIP will approve the surgery. and now the wait starts again.

OHIP denied my appilication for DS and then two and half weeks ago i appealed and i called OHIP yesterday and she said they denied my again. so i went to my MPP's office. i explain them everything and they are looking into it now. so this is my last hope. i don't know what else to do.
RNY approval

I went to see my family doctor today and he recieved a fax from OHIP. i got approval for RNY in 3 days. you believe that? they denied me for DS after 3 months becasue of low BMI and RNY they approved in 3 days. My MPP's office called and told me to do appeal for DS and my doctor signed the letter and i just xpress mailed to OHIP's office in toronto. i am usually very nice person but i am ready to kick some $$# lol. i am no different then other people who got approval for DS with lower BMI. don't get me wrong i am happy for you guys but it's MY turn now lol. over a year i been learning about DS. all i do is dream about having DS and i look skinny like Kelly A in my dream lol. you rock Kelly A. i don't care if i made spelling mistakes in this post as long as i spelled DS right i am good to go lol.
DS approval

WOW ..after waiting for 4 months i finaly got approval for DS. i want to scream so badly...lol i booked consult with Dr. L on June 2nd. i can't wait. i want to say thanks to all of you. i couldn't have done this without your help. i just want to tell the people who are applying for DS is that OHIP denied me for DS earlier because they said my BMI is only 40 and DS is only for people over 50 or 60 BMI. then i send another package with some more information and they denied me again. i went to see my MPP and then i appealed for DS and today julie called from Dr. L office and told me i got approval for consultation. i had to wait 4 moths for approval but i will say it's worth it. i want to thank Randy and Sue for helping me with appeal and also everybody else for your help. i want to say thanks to ED Mika and kelly A as well and all my OH family.
