Since the day I got married back in 1976 my husband and I loved to enjoy life and enjoy food. We were active and both of us slowly started to put the pounds on. I kept thinking "I'm only 5lbs overweight, then 10, 15."

In 1981 I had my 1st child and only gained 25lbs. Joshua weighed over 9lbs. I had difficulty taking that wgt off, i started having back problems, then migraines. Our second child came in 1985, he too weighed over 9lbs. By then I was well over 190lbs.

My aches and pains were great but I pushed on. The stress that came on in the next few years and problems with the boys as they grew into teenagers, along with the jobs I had did not help me gain more and more weight.

Three years ago I was at my lowest. I was constantly getting cortisone injections in my back, which didn't seem to help. Then my knee gave out on me and I ended up having meniscus surgery, which has not healed correctly.

I have scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, anklosing spondilitis, fibromyalgia, migraines, asthma, allergies, and on and on.  I have been very depressed for the past two years, not able to find a job, pain everywhere. I can't exercise because of the pain, so i can't lose weight, but I need to lose weight to help with the pain. Vicious circle I am in.

So Rheumie suggested lap band surgery. to date I have lost 25 lbs (6.5 of them after surgery) a week after lap band surgery i was back in the hospital because of hyphema in my eye that goes with a disease call UGH (uveitis, glaucoma, hyphema). Right now I can only walk outside for short periods of time. cannot aggravate my eye or cause any blood to spill out or the stitches to come loose.

I hope this will be a short setback and I can get onto my exercise routine. so that is my story so far.
