All went well with my surgery. The first day was worse than anticipated but feeling better now at 4 days post-op.

I had my physical today and all went well.  I told the surgeon my final decision was to have the sleeve and he didn't have much to say other than to warn me about reflux.  Then we tried to schedule a date and based on my schedule I can't have surgery until Sept 23rd.  That means I'll have to go back for another physical closer to the date and they looked at me like I was crazy for pushing this surgery off b/c of vacation plans.  The good news is I've lost 5lbs since my last weigh in for a total of 11lbs since I started looking into weight loss surgery.

I met with my surgeon on Friday.  It didn't go very well.  He is very pro RNY and I am more interested in the VSG.  He didn't have any facts to support his decision of RNY other than he's been doing it for years and has seen success and feels VSG is the flavor of the month like the lap band was years ago.  I was really hoping he would have more concrete information to give me.  I also felt rushed and didn't get to ask all the questions I had.  There is no clear pre-op or post-op diet in their informational binder.  I'm hoping these questions will be answered at my next appointment with the nutritionist.  They were looking to have the surgery scheduled for june 24th but that is too soon for me.  The dr didn't even go over what my goal weight should be.  I'm wondering if I should go see another surgeon at this point.  Next time i have an appt the surgeon will give me an exam and the nurse said it will include a breast exam.  That kind of shocked me, I'm not sure why that is necessary.

I attended my first support group meeting on Wednesday.  It wasn't at all what I expected.  It was much less informative than I thought it was going to be.  The next one is at a local park and we'll be walking together.  That should be easier for me b/c i can take my dog or baby on the walk with me.

Attended info session on 4/24.  Appt with surgeon is scheduled for 5/17.  Dr.  Holland seemed to prefer RNY over sleeve in info session and I'm interested in finding out why b/c I feel sleeve is the best option.  Tomorrow is my first support group meeting.  Two are required for surgery, but i'm thinking of attending them regularly.  I've also started an account on MFP.  It's amazing how many calories I eat when I don't like to myself and actually account for every bite of food that goes in my mouth.
