Hi, so I finally found a WONDERFUL, FUNNY and DOWN TO EARTH surgeon who is smart as a whip and understanding to boot (thanks to Emily Rose his online referral source Just Kidding). Dr Borland although 2 hours away from my home is the doc for me, who knew he could be found in the little town of New Iberia. I am excited after all of my up and down thoughts , Mexico, Michigan, to be able to stay in my home state is a blessing. We have set a date for MARCH 2 and this was my choice to have it the first week of March, gives me time to transfer my patients to other nurses, arrange for a sitter to stay a few nights at my house with my kids and save a few more bucks for those couple of weeks off work.
Not only am I having the sleeve done (32 Bougie) but I am also having my gallbladder (problematic) removed at the same time, saving me an additional surgery, cost and time off work and away from kids not to mention additional exposure to anesthesia. Now I have to work on borrowing my 401K money and taking out a secured loan. Wish me luck.

Mexico was my first and what I thought my only choice, since consulting with a few general surgeons around my area and elsewhere I have recently discovered that as a self pay I have options esp. since I can combine my needed gallbladder removal with my VSG and my insurance will pay for the gallbladder. I am a special case though, cause I actually have a bad gallbladder I am putting off to select a surgeon that will do this for me. Dr Alvarez would have performed the gallbladder surgery along with my VSG as well for a very small fee, less than $1000 which for some people is their deductible on their insurance which I still can't say enough good stuff about Dr Alvarez's reputation and Susan his nurse and information highway, you can't go wrong with them if you are self pay and want wonderful care. They would have definitely gotten my surgery if my insurance had not agreed allow both surgeries at the same time. Now I am on a mission to find the right guy for me cause I was so set on Mexico.
