During high school I played basketball and showed horses. This was probably one of my most healthiest points and I was 5'10" at 230 when I graduated high school in 2003. I look back and wish that I was that size even though my parents stayed on me all the time about my weight. I often wonder if this is one my underlying reasons for gaining the weight.

Skip on to college...I packed on more than the freshman 15. I had put on a whopping 60lbs. My sophomore year rolls around and we get a new roommate who I had grown up with. She had some weight to lose and she had started doing the low carb diet, which was working. So at this point I say what the hell and start on it with her. Guess what...the weight just started coming off and I wasn't even exercising. After the fall semester is up, I move to a college that is closer to home and has a better Equine program. By the time I move to Murfreesboro, I have lost a total of 50lbs. I manage to lose down to 190 by April of 2005 and maintain around 200. I loved it!! I was getting dates and going out like I never had before.

Fast forward to October 2005. I start dating my future husband. I am doing fairly well until Dec. when he tells me that he won't be back at school the next semester because he is going to be in work up for a fall deployment with his marine reserve unit. Ok...so now I start going off the diet a little at a time. Out to eat here, a little bit of dessert here and the weight starts coming back. By the time that I realize what I have done I am at 285. At this point I began L.A Weightloss (don't do it...it is the worst $1,200 I have ever spent) since it was near my job. Which by the way was the first desk job I had ever had so this is where some of my lbs. came from.

By this point, I was engaged and stressing about trying to get into a wedding dress in 1 1/2 years. The stress added more weight and by the time I got married in October of 08, I was at 320. I am a teacher so I am up and at my desk occasionally. Well..I went through several depressions due to my weight and more started adding on. I went to the doctor in Jan. 09 to discuss my options. She put me on phentermine and I lost 15lbs. When I went off it came back and them some. Now I am up to 342 lbs. This is the most I have ever weighed.

After, Christmas I decided enough was enough. So I went back to the doctor on December 28th 2009 to talk about weight loss surgery. This started my 6 months of monthly doctors visits for insurance purposes. I went to a seminar on WLS in Feb that was held by the surgeon near me. I felt like this was the surgeon that I needed to be with. They told me that I would be able to have my surgery done during the summer since I was on summer break. I got everything submitted to her office plus my psych eval. The only thing that I was lacking was my very last PCP visit. I stopped by her office to find out more on a date. They proceeded to tell me that it would be October or November before I had the surgery. This was a deal breaker for me.

The hunt was now on for a new surgeon.Within in a week, I had all my paperwork (including my last PCP visit) submitted to Centennial Center for Obesity and they filed it with insurance. I found out the day after Memorial day that I was approved. 2 days later, I had a surgery date of July 6th with Dr. Dyer
