26 weeks/6 months post op

Jun 15, 2011

Today marks a pretty important day for me. Im 6 months post op. I had my appointment and labs done today as well.  Before going in I wasn't really happy about my progress, because I've seem to have hit a stall, that Ive been at for a few weeks.  After finding out that Ive loss 25 lbs since my 3 month appointment, 76 lbs since surgery, and 98 lbs total.  Im totally excited about that.

Im still struggling with my eating habits and journaling my food intake daily.  Ive continued to workout as usual and have changed up on my workout, but still not change. I have not measured yet, but will tomorrow. 59-61 more lbs to my personal goal of 200 lbs...so Im excited about that as well.

Well until next time.

23 weeks post-op

May 25, 2011

Today Im 23 weeks post op...woke up and weighed myself and I am now 268 lbs which is 67 lbs loss since surgery and 85 since I started this journey.  I'm not happy at all about my weight bouncing back and forth for the past 3-4 weeks.  This is the main reason I havent blogged the last two weeks. Im not excited about my weightloss anymore.  I must be going through something.  I dont know.  I only decided to post because Im going to be soon approaching 6 months post op in a couple weeks and I really wanted to be down 80 lbs or so by now...from surgery.

On a good note, my baby graduated today from Pre-K...I know that's so little but I was sooo excited!!!

Peace.

21 WEEKS POST OP

May 11, 2011

How's it going yall? Well today makes 21 weeks post op.  Sorry I didnt post last week, but between trying to keep hubby together and trying to ge my gym routine back in order, and doing finals, the days just passed me by.

Again today is 21 weeks post op and I just weighed in at 267lbs....that's  total of 3lbs down since last week and 68lbs lighter from surgery day, and 86lbs from the beginning of all this.  WOOHOOO!!!!

This week I changed up somethings with my workout.  I am now going to the gym in the mornings, doing the treadmill for 30 mins, then working on my abs and arms.  It's been so invigerating to get my workouts done in the morning.  I think Im going to stay on this schedule for a while.

Eating is back on track for the most part, but as always, Im sure it could used some improvement.  Ive been eating chicken salad...found out that Subway has this new Orchard Chicken salad and it's great!!!  Yall should try it.

My NSV for this week has nothing to do with weightloss....Im graduating with my second Masters Degree in Education Administration on Friday, but I forgot, that I get to wear that sized 16/18 dress I told yall about last week, so I guess it does has something to do with weightloss.

Well that's it...till next week.

19 weeks and counting!!!

Apr 28, 2011

Hey guys!!!

This week was pretty good.  I weighed in yesterday morning at 272lbs, that's a total of 63lbs from surgery and 81lbs from the beginnig of all this.  Only 1 pound down this week, but I am grateful for that.

Well my attention has been solely on hubby this week. Preparing for this surgery, then going to the hospital to have his surgery.  I really did try the liquid diet with him, but couldn't hold out.  So I did liquids mostly during the day then ate at night.  I did not achieve my logging goal this week but I will.  Because hubby just got released on Wednesday, i havent been to the gym all week.  Im about to go crazy.  Im back at it on Saturday though.    Hubby is doing amazing.  Apprently they changed the way they do the surgery a little, so he only has 2-1 inch scars, he didnt have a drainage tube, and isn't in as nearly much pain as I was in.  He said that he is sore from the bruising but he thought he could go back to work next week.  They wont let him do that beccasue he has to lift up to 50+ pounds at work.  Anywho, I wanted to give him a pinch because he felts so good.  The only problems he did have in the hospital is sipping water.  He dry-heeved from drinking it.  They said it was because his esophogus had a lot of swelling still.  He's fine now.  He sipped on a protein drink all day and some water.  Enough about him...back to me.

I had some NSV's this week.  I'll start with the biggest one of all from today.  I bought a dress over a year ago that was onsale at Lane Bryant and a size 22, when I was in a 28 knocking on 30...fitting 30 depending on the store.  Well today my son's school had a mother/son-father/daughter spring dance and we had to be dressy.  So I looked in the closet full of clothes that I have, and there's alot....and saw that dress still with the tag on it.  The first time I tried it on, I couldn't get it to go down past my breast.  It's a 2 layer, one satan material, the other is a lace overlay.  Really really cute.  Anywho, I tried it on, and at first it didnt appear to be going down, until I pulled the first layer down, then the second.  OMG!!!! I fit it DAMN GOOD. It's even loose a little at the top.  I ran downstairs to show hubby and he was like DAMN!!! HA HA. I've decided that I will wear it to church on Mother's Day and to my graduation on the 13th.    The other NSV was that I was able to curl up in the chair they had me sleeping in at the hospital with no discomforts.  My back hurts now, but it wasnt uncomfortable to sit with my legs and feet curled up.

On to the next week!!!!

18 weeks post-op

Apr 21, 2011

Hey guys, I've been quite forgetful lately, not posting on Wednesday, but I'll get it together.  Well yesterday, I weighed in at 273lbs...that's a total of 62lbs down from surgery and 80lbs from the beginning of this journey 3 years ago.  Anywho, this week was pretty cool. Hubby started his liquid diet on last Friday for his surgery coming up on the 25th.  I intended on doing the entire liquid diet with him, but couldn't hold out all day.  So what I do is try liquids for the first part of the day, then eat something later in the day.

Ive decided to start back keeping track of what Im eating and drinking, so I can be accountable for what Im intaking.  All my vitamins are on point, so no complaints there.  Workouts are still great as well.

Now back to hubby, so the closer we get to surgery, the more nervous I get.  I dont know why Ive been on such an emotional rollercoaster lately.   Surgeries and hospitals scare the heck out of me.  I am a praying woman, so I know it's all in GOD's hands, so please pray for hubby and I strength through this.  He goes in Monday morning at 9am, so pray for his speedy recovery too.  Since being on his liquid diet for 7 days, Im guesstamating that he has lost 15lbs from my knowledge.  He tries to sneak on the scale without me knowing, but I'll find out.

So next week is all about hubby and his surgery, so Im sure I wont be thinking about my diet or workouts at all.  See yall next week.

4 months/ 17 weeks

Apr 16, 2011

Wednesday I hit 17 weeks post op and Friday made it my 4 month surgaversary.  I weighed myself yesterday after not weighing for 2 weeks and discovered I was 276lbs  which makes me down 58 lbs after surgery.  Was that excited but happy that it was a loss.

This past week I have been experiencing lower and mid back pain and knee pain.  I stayed with my normal workout, but I dont know why its hurting.  I may need to see a chiropractor. Hubby got his surgery date this week as well. He will be having surgery on 4/25/11.  He started his liquid diet yesterday and I had decided to do it with him.  Well yesterday I made it all the way till 6pm, but caved and had some deli meat and cheese.  Today becasue I had a photo gig, I ate again as well.  He wasn't around either time so, he's cool.  I think what I will do is try to do liquids for breakfast and lunch and eat for dinner.  I'm really excited for him, but scared this dude is gonna pass me up on the scales...even on his liquid diet, so I gotta step my game up.  We are very competitive so maybe this will help me shift back into gear and stay there.

Other than hubby getting surgery date, nothing really exciting happend and I dont have any new plans for this week other than trying to do the liquid diet till dinner everyday.  So I guess Ill talk to you guys next week

16 weeks post-op

Apr 06, 2011

16 weeks ago today my journey began.  I'm still so overjoyed about the fact that I did it. I wished that I had made the RNY my first choice, but either way I have it now.  I cant tell yall how much I weigh this week because hubby hid the scale again per my request and wouldnt bring it out eventhough I tried yelling at him.  I will weigh in on the 15th which is my 4 month RNYaversary. LOL

Anywho, great strides where made this week.  I tried really really hard to kick this sweet/junk thing.  If I craved sweets, I would eat fruit or drink protein sweet drink, if I craved chips, I ate a slice of pickle or a wheat thin with cheese.  I still need some work, but I tried really hard and I can tell the difference.

I worked out extra hard this week because last week was a drag.  I did 2 workouts yesterday and walked 2 miles today. I've decided to move up to 5 days a week working out.

I did get my blood results back and went to see my PCP. She told me to buy some over the counter iron pills to increase my iron levels, so I bought the Bariatirc Advantage ones....oooooooh they taste like a good sweettart candy. passion fruit is the flavor.  The only other thing that was low on my labs were my PCH OR PTH I think. She says she wants to wait till my 6 month labs come back to make a decision on that.  I may have to have a gland of my Thyroid taken out? IDK. I just pray I dont have to have any more procedures.

Anywho, My plan for this week is to decrease the junk snacking even more and hopefully I'll be cured from it in a couple weeks completely.

Oh BTW...Hubby got approved for his surgery. He goes in for his orientation next Wednesday and will recieve his date then.  Im so excited for him yet nervous cuz I know that joka gone pass me up on weightloss. LOL

Until then,

Peace

15 weeks post-op

Mar 30, 2011

15 weeks today yall....I'm happy and excited today.  This morning, I awake and weighed myself, which I said I wasnt gonna do.  Hubby hid the scale like I asked, but I made him bring it back out. LOL. Anywho, I came in at 280.0lbs which puts me at exactly 55lbs down since surgery and 73lbs since I started this weightloss journey in 2008.  I've decided to start including my beginning journey weight since I use that picture as motivation to keep going.

I am struggling everyday to stay away from sweets and junk food.  My cravings for that stuff is back and very apparent.  I try very hard to stay away, but like before it's hard.  I really really really wished that I dumped, maybe it'll be possible now...you think?

Of course I did all my excersing this week, but so far since Monday, I haven't had a desire to workout for some reason.  I dont know if Im bored or just tired. I didnt go on Monday, yesterday I did Zumba and Michael Jackson in my living room, and I didnt go today. I dont know!!!! I got my results from my lab work back and they are all fine with exception of iron being low and something called PTH...I go to see my PCP tomorrow to see what she's gonna have me do to make these areas normal.

My plan is to get my eating in order and my liquid intake this week.  Im a little dissapointed that I've eaten some of the things that I have this week...I NEED AN INTERVENTION!!!!  BAD

14 weeks post-op

Mar 23, 2011

Today I'm 14 weeks post op.  weighed in this morning at 283.0 which makes me 52lbs down since surgery and 1 pound for the week.  This past week I was only able to go to the gym twice and I walked my neighborhood at a very liesurely rate once.

Im starting a little different workout this week though.  On Monday I walked up to the track and jog/walked the track twice, then walked back home.  I guestimate that the walk to and from the track is about a mile by itself.  I did water aerobics yesterday. Then today I went up to the track and job/walked a mile.  I felt like death when and after I was jogging, but so happy I did it.

I still have that stupid scale out and plan on having hubby hide it this week.  I still havent gotten lab results back from my 3 month post op appointment last week. Ill call tomorrow to see whats up.

NSV TIME. Well the most memorable one is today. I had a meet a greet to go to tonight so I can get a job as a principal and I had to find a suit or something to wear. At this point all my suits in my closest are either too big or smell like closet, or is missing something like a button or broken zipper.  So I had to go get some slacks to go with a blazer I have that does fit right now. I can tell it's a little big,but wasnt about to dish out money right now on another one.  Anywho, I went to Lane Bryant to get some slacks. I knew I wasnt in a 28 anymore because the last time I was there, that was the largest size they sold and it fit me snug, so I'm thinking that by now I surely have to be in a smaller size.  So I tried on a 26 and thought to myself, good job, but lets see how a 24 fits. Well I tried it on thinking it would be snug but I would eventually be able to fit it well. How about the 24 does fit, but is loose.  yaaaaay meeeee. I didnt even try a 22, I was happy with the 24.  Before surgery I was 28/30, now Im at least a 24.

Talk to you guys next week

13 weeks/3months post op

Mar 16, 2011

Hey yall, well today makes 13 weeks post op. Yesterday was my 3 month surgerversary-sp.  I had quite a few highs this past week.  Where do I begin...hope I dont forget anything.  Lets start with the weight.  On Monday which is the last day I weighed, I weighed in at 284 which makes me own 4lbs since last week and finally 51 pounds since surgery.  Last week I think I told you guys that I was going to Chicago and if I had lost 50lbs by Friday, that I was gonna buy myself a new Coach purse. Well when I left on Friday I was still 288 lbs.  I decided because I had done well up until then, that I would still buy myself a purse.  Well I bought 3...GREAT SALE.  Yeah I know that was a bit excessive, but it really was a good sale.  I'm glad i did though because I weighe myself on Monday which I usually never due, just out of curiosity and discovered i was down 4lbs.  I'm not gonna lie, I ate popcorn, cake, fried fish, and fries while in the Chi, but who goes to Chicago without eating the great food. Of course i couldn't eat alot but I did eat what I wanted.

Some NSV I discovered this past week: We went to a Chicago Bulls game, and you know those little baby seats they have you pay a ridiculous amount of money for....well, I fit in them and comfortablely. My fat on my thighs didn't hurt.  I bought and outfit in a 2X instead of 3-4X to take with me. This next one is crazy, but still a victory for me.  As I ran up my stairs I noticed that I heard a noice coming from my thighs, they were flopping back and forth instead of rubbing together from being so big. LOL. The last one, which I just noticed tonight is, while giving my baby a bath in the tub, I was able to get on my knees and it didnt hurt as fast or as much as it used to.  I could get up easy too. Another one is that my jacket has gotten so big, that I had to wear hubby's jacket which is a 2x I think and its still too big for me. Oh I cant forget...hubby measured me yesterday and I have lost 3-5 inches on every part of my body.  This is compared to my measurements in January though. I dont know what my measurements where the day of surgery.  These NSV far outweighed my scale loss this week. And BTW I'm excited about having a scale loss, cuz I thought a sistah was on a stall.

As prior weeks, I was able to get all my workouts and vitamins in.  I think I've been tripping on my liquids though.  Back to counting again for this upcomng week.  Im gonna have my hubby hide my scale as well, so my next few weeks I will blog not konwing my weight.  My 3 month follow up and blood work is tomorrow, so I'll let you know how that goes as well.
