Why Did You Call Your Blog "An Unexpected Journey"?

Well, I never really expected to have weight loss surgery. I am really really good at researching an idea, but never taking action. So even though I've been watching TV shows and documentaries about weight loss surgery for years - and I knew I needed it - I never seriously thought I would be going through with it.

I had to hit rock bottom - my health was failing, I had sleep apnea, I was depressed, my social life was nonexistent, and it was getting to the point where my weight was interfering with my ability to work. I was at a point in my life where I could see myself going downhill more and more rapidly.

I had to choose between taking control of my life or becoming a shut-in and becoming famous for having the fire dept. cut out a wall to get me out of the house.
