Wedding Day

Nov 11, 2008

The day finally arrived and it was beautiful.  Everything went as planned.  We spent the afternoon with family at Planet Hollywood and Sunday visited with an old friend and then went to Fremont Street Experience.  It was chilly and I got Joe to finally try Starbucks for some Chai Tea.

Three More Days

Nov 03, 2008

Saturday I will change my name.  I have been waiting for this day for a long time.  Joe and I have been together for over 15 years and we feel it is time we make it official.  As soon as I have wedding photos I will post them.

The plastics recovery is getting better.  I had two small stitches removed from my right elbow a month ago.  My body has rejected the absorbable stitches and so those that haven't poked out have had to be removed surgically.  Ouch!!!!I still may have a couple more areas that this is happening, but I am waiting until after the wedding to have them checked out.  I don't want any bandages in my photos.

I wanted to post a link to a great profile with some cool links for tickers, etc.  Enjoy.

GOING TO THE CHAPEL!!!!

Visit to Dr. Gitt

Oct 16, 2008

Joe and I made a spur of the moment trip today to see Dr. Gitt.  I have been having leaks in my elbow incision and I was a little concerned about it.  They have been leaking for weeks.  I called this morning, after chatting with Dr. Gitt last night, and got a 2:30 appointment.

We arrived about hour and half early so went to Friday's for lunch.  That cute little Jen joined us.  We had a nice visit and then had to run across the street to have some more fun.

Dr. Gitt gave me some local anesthetic in my arm and proceeded to cut open the area that had been leaking.  Lo and behold there was two small sutures in there.  Hopefully this will solve my problems and I won't have to visit him again until January 2009.  Now I can concentrate on getting married.

Introduction

Oct 15, 2008

I commented to Joyce's post but decided maybe I should do a separate post so here goes.

Becky Garza, soon to be Anaya!!!! had RNY 9/20/2006 with Dr. Juarez, and lost from 286 to 152. I had brachioplasty, mons lift, fleur de lis, and lower body lift with Dr.'s Gitt and Heffel on 7/16/2008.

I work for Uncle Sam and the USAF at AMARG, Davis Monthan AFB and am a Jane of all Trades. I plan to retire in 2011. Can't wait. I would love to work for a bariatric surgeon like Joyce and Jen do.

I have two children, one of each. Both are out of the house. My daughter has blessed me with 3 granddaughters, ages 13, 12, and 10. My son had a cutie of a daughter who is 4 1/2 and a son that will soon be 3. I love being able to spend more time with them now that I am 150 pounds lighter.

Follow-up with Dr Gitt, 17 September 08

Sep 17, 2008

I had my follow up with Dr. Gitt yesterday.  All is well even though I am one of those unlucky people who have had to deal with some small holes in the incision here and there.  He told me that he was sorry that I had to deal with it.  I feel lucky though.  I could have ended up back in the hospital having to pay more out of pocket.  As far as I am concerned what I have had to deal with has been minor.  I don't go back to see him until the end of October now.

I am looking forward to getting out of town this weekend and making the trip to Mesa to meet new friends and see some of my old ones that I have met on this board.  I hope to take lots of photos and feel free to snap some of me as well.  I need some new ones to show off my new curves.    I am having a hard time getting use to this smaller body.  I am going to have to learn how to buy clothes that are more flattering to this tiny shape.

September 10 2008

Sep 10, 2008

I have been back to work now for two weeks.  Doing better everyday.  Now if the swelling would just go away things would be wonderful.  But I hear that may not happen for qutie a while.  I am finally getting back into shopping for new clothes.  With this curvier body I am finding that I have to change my style.  I am so used to buying clothes that were loose and covered up the flab.  Now I can buy more form fitting clothes and even wear belts.  I am also looking forward to some cooler weather because I love winter clothing and the winter colors.

I had my labs run a couple weeks ago and my protein was a little low and so was my iron.  I have to triple my iron intake to get it back to normal since the surgery.  I have made it my goal to take the iron and Vitamin C tablets daily and to try and get in 100 grams of protein a day.  Sometimes that can be difficult.

I am looking forward to attending the OH Event in Mesa AZ this month and meeting some new people and having a reunion with the one's I have already met.

On the way home we stopped at the Casa Grande Outlet Mall and I bought two crop pants (SIZE 8) and a medium white blouse; all for $43.

Met Goal and MORE

Aug 21, 2008

I am so proud to announce that I have met my goal and am actually below goal.  I have lost 151 pounds since my surgery in Sep 06.

I am still trying to get my energy back from the plastics.  I tried to go to work on Monday and only lasted two hours.  I am going to go in later today and see if I can make it four hours.  My next post-op check up with Dr. Heffel is 29 Aug.  Sorry Joyce, I will miss you again.
