Back on track

Mar 30, 2009

It has been a long time since I have posted. We all have stories--it boils down to the weight was coming off when I was eating right and going to the gym. I stopped going to the gym when the kids got out of school because there was no time. Poor excuse but it is what it is. I finally realized--don't know what took me so long--that I needed to go back. I would go up 2-3 pounds then back down. Back to the gym with a personal trainer to get a kick start and now I am back on track. With only 49 pounds to go I should be rushing to get there but I am not and I don't know why. I feel better than when I was heavier and wear smaller size clothes so I am happy with that and not realizing that the journey hasn't ended yet.
I am hoping that now that I am back on track things will start moving forward and I'll be able to reach my goal sooner rather than later.

June Update

Jun 25, 2007

June 25, 2007
Well it has been 5 months since surgery. Overall it has been going well. The gym and I have become friends, I am going 3 to 5 times a week. I finally realize it is true you do feel better when you exercise, I never believed it before, thought it was something said to get me to do it.
I now weigh 226 and went from a size 26 in both tops and bottoms to a 20 in pants and 18 in tops. I have had a few WOW moments, most memorable being I fit into a pair of my husbands XL shorts--which or course have no room for hips and I had room in them.
My goal weight is 170, my mini goal is 199--I want to get to onderland.
Saturday was my first experience with pb/sliming. I ate too fast and caught a pain in my chest which was horrible. It got worse and worse when I bent over the toilet I thought my chest would explode. It took about 2 hours for me to get back to normal. Never again will I chew fast this is one lesson I learned the first time.

NSV moment and a vacation

Feb 27, 2007

February 27, 2007

It seems like a while since I have been here. We went on vacation from the 18th to the 25th. I had my first NSV moment while on vacation. I sat in a resin chair at the pool and fit in it comfortably. I thought it might have been a larger chair by I asked hubby and he said it was a regular size one. Needless to say I have a grin on my face from ear to ear.
I go back March 6th and if necessary I will get a fill. Right now I am feeling no hunger and doing well. On Friday I start regular food. I am still doing soft foods and it is going well.
To date I have lost about 17lbs and inches. This I know because my pants are big and I fit in the chair. I am going to get a measuring tape and take some measurements.

Freedom, the staples are out and I can now move freely about the cabin. I realized since I couldn't put any lotion the skin was dry and tight which was also pulling the staples. Now that there out I feel so much better.
I go back in 2 weeks on 2/13 to check the incisions. Another week of full liquids which will end on 2/9 then onto mushies. I can honestly say I do not feel hungry.
Total weight loss so far is 10lbs. works for me. I have not been scale obsessed which I thought I would, since I got home I haven't weighed myself. The first time was yesterday at the doctor's. Then I checked that weight with my scale which is off by a pound, who knew my crappy scale was so good.

Tomorrow the staples are out

Tomorrow at 2 is when the staples will be removed. The itcheness will stop and I'll be able to move without fearing one is going to pop.

HOME HAPPY AND FINALLY A LOSER

Jan 28, 2007

1/28/07

I came home on Friday around 5:30 the rest of the evening was a blur. There was much sleeping and gas relief. Saturday was wind down and moving around. I could not be comfortable enough to type. Today all is good, I am typing, gas pain is gone and I'm moving.
Biggest thing for me is a positive attitude, which has truly helped through all of this. It has kept me focused and on target.
A special thanks to all who sent me messages and kept me in their prayers. I believe it truly helped me.
Tuesday is the day I get my staples removed all 23 of them, I can't wait. I realise that I won't be driving at least until then. I am housebound which kind of sucks but I'll get through it.
Well I'm off for my next protein drink.

The Day Before Surgery

Jan 23, 2007

1/23/07

It's the day before surgery and the stress is finally leaving me. Surgery was almost CANCELLED. Luckily it is on, but I got a call from my surgeon's office saying that my cardiac clearance was too old. It is over a year old but no one told me it needed to be updated. That is until today. Of course there is no way to get it done, believe me I tried. Thankfully my surgeon's office spoke to the anestheiologist and the surgery is on.
Yesterday I went to my pcp for final clearance and no one faxed him my test results. The hospital sent over their result right away. The surgeon's office was having a problem with the fax so I went and picked up the papers and brought them back.
Right now I am just happy that tomorrow is a go that I can almost forget being on clear liquids, almost but not quite.
Well it's time to go and get the house in order before I'm gone tomorrow.

Final Visit to Surgeon

Jan 19, 2007

1/19/07

Saw my surgeon today, the final visit before surgery. The first thing I asked was if they had my cardio clearance. They did, which was a great relief one less thing to worry about.
We talked about the procedure, I signed consents and they took my picture. Also the wonderful weigh-in. The grand total is 262lbs. This is annoying because I have been on my liquid diet since the 17th and would have thought I lost some weight. I am running to the bathroom all the time. I will see how much I weigh in at the hospital.
I would like to thank all the people who have posted on my page. Your support means alot to me and I appreciate it.

Pre-Op testing today

Jan 18, 2007

1/18/07

Today I went for my pre-op testing. It went fast, the only wait was for the urine test. I had to wait for the results before I could take the chest x-ray. I get done and leave I'm about halfway home when hubby calls to say the hospital called and please call back right away.
I call back and they need to take another vial of blood. Apparently one was mislabled. Annoyed I go back and they poke the other arm on the inside because she could not get a vain. They have their vial of blood and I have a large black and blue.
Tomorrow I go for my final appointment with my surgeon.
This is day 2 of my liquid diet which was screwed up when I had to go back to give blood. I was so tempted to each a solid food but I didn't.
Can't wait for tomorrow.
