Finally home!

Apr 11, 2008

Thank you Jesus!!! We are finally home.  All went very well except for the airlines, yes..... we booked with American.  Stood in line for 4 hours on Thursday to find out they could not get us on a flight back to Dallas from San Antonio. Feels crazy to be so close to home but not able to get there.  Dr. Alvarez was as of everyone has said.....Absolutely Wonderful!!!!  I work with a variety of doctors daily and he is very personable, very down to earth, kind, giving and caring. I would go back to him at any time or reccommend him to my family and friends. The rooms at the hospital are very nice. Dr. A had them remoldeled for his patients.  The day nurse Priscilla was very wonderful, spoke good english and was very informative and helpful with not only my medical concerns but everything.  The night nurses did speak for the most part spanish but were able to communicate enough to tend to my needs.  One time when they did not understand me or I them, they told me they would contact the doctor and before I knew the doctor was there tending to my questions and alleviating my concerns (post-op pain in my chest).  My pain was heartburn, I had never had it before.  He ordered me medication and as soon as the acid blocker was given the pain was relieved.  I walked the hall and sipped on the ice chips and all has been well.  Like ya'll are used to hearing.... there is not one negative comment to make.  Thank you for all of the prayers and blessings that have been sent my way, I wish everyone all the same. jac

Flight Day

Apr 05, 2008

Flight day, well I am not in bed asleep as I should be. Too nervous, I guess.  My family are all tucked away sleeping peacefully.  The kids, although age 14 and 11, look like they are my little babies again.  Makes me think about how could have done so much better by them.  More trips to the park, been up at the school way more than I ever was.  They still love me though. Honeyman is thoroughly wiped out. He's been working and trying to get everything in order for this trip (my house, cuz it has been so out of order!).  I am sure we will all be very relieved and finally able to relax once this is completed. Or should I have said as soon as we have begun, my new life that is.  I'll write again soon.  Debbie is my amd will update my post op. Thanks Debbie!!!

Feeling nervous....

Apr 02, 2008

Well, we are really counting down.  I feel weird about it all. Not like really excited and not extremely scared. Just kind-of in this place of non-reality. Like nothing new is really happening.  Is it real?  I went out after work today to buy the gas-x strips and a few other things listed trying to make it feel more real. I go back to work tonight and won't be off again till Sunday morning when we fly out.  I just think it has all happened so quickly I just haven't had time for it to really set in.
God bless all and please take care of me, keep me safe.  I love my children and my husband so very much and want to be the mom and wife they deserve.

Back to work....

Mar 30, 2008

Okay, back to work for a few days.  I work 12 hour shifts as a RNC Shift Manager.  I work in the Women's Center.  That means i run a crew of about 5 to 7 nurses in labor and delivery, nursery and level 2 nursery and the post partum/gyn floor.  Mind you with nursing shortage being the way it is I am working alot of the time and managing at the same time, trying to put fires out all over the unit.    okay...... well i've got 2 nights on then 1 day off then 3 more nights on .  when i finish my shift on Sunday morning, we fly out from dallas to san antonio.  whew!!!! I am counting the days, I am very excited, slightly nervous.  A little stressed, my work is very important to me as well and i know it put them in a bind, but I need to think about how good I will be as I make my way down this path.  God Bless all and keep me in your ever so strong and safe hands.
