3 Years Post Op

Aug 12, 2011

Just got the e-mail reminding me that it's been 3 years since I had my surgery. I ended up 10lbs below my original goal, and have had no trouble keeping the weight off. Talk about a new lease on life! I still recommend this surgery to everyone I know that has been struggling throughout their life with their weight. If you're thinking about it, DO IT!

2 Years Post Op - VSG

Sep 07, 2010

I can't believe 2 years has gone by already, it just doesn't seem like it's been that long. What a difference 2 years has made...I've lost more weight than I currently weigh, I'm 4lbs from my original goal and I feel fantastic. This surgery has been such a life saver, and a life giver. I spent the last 5+ years thinking about food and eating from the moment I woke up in the morning until I went to bed at night. It was a huge weight dragging me down, I was just so damn hungry all the time. And frustrated, and depressed because I just couldn't seem to get any control over it. I managed to gain 150lbs in just under 5 years...while dieting! Fast forward to today, still no real hunger, I actually enjoy what I eat, and have no problem controlling what I eat. Since January of this year, I've cut out all refined sugar, and most "bad" carbs. When I got out to eat, I don't worry about the carbs as mch, but 80-90% of the time, I don't eat any "white or beige" foods. I've found that this has kept me from regaining an appetite, and makes it very easy to continue to lose or maintain weight loss. I did have to add a hair, skin and nails vitamin supplement to my diet, I was finding that my hair was thinning, which I was not happy about. So do I have any regrets about getting the surgery? Nope, not a one. This has been the best thing that could have happened to me. I have a whole life now that does not revolve around food, wanting it, eating it, trying to stay away from it, etc. I have learned that there are some things that I should stay away from because I will eat them to excess if I get my hands on them, so I just don't buy or eat them. So for anyone who sees this and is wondering about having the surgery, my advice is do it, it can save your life!
