How things are shaping up

Jan 25, 2009

Well I've done my 6 months of required dieting for medicaid.  I've gotten my clearance from my cardiologist for anestesia.  I've had my dietary work up by the restart center.  They've gotten all my records except from my family doctor which is really annoying.  For some reason he hasn't been responding to their requests.  I'm hoping that this week that will be all taken care of.  I've had clearance from my psych evaluation.  The restart center is trying to get me into dietary classes.  We have to do 4 classes before surgery.  1 a week for 4 weeks.  They want me to start in the February session but because my family doctor hasn't gotten stuff in that's creating a problem.  If i get my classes in February I think i'm looking at March for surgery then.  Hopefully with in the first week.  I got to meet my Surgeon.  I absolutely adore him.  Very nice and very smart.  Thinks I'm a good canidate for surgery and was sending all my info over to the restart center to get the insurance rolling.  When I went to the cardiologist he had test results from my family doctor and let me know that i am diabetic and have high triglycerides.  He didn't want to treat them because I'll be having surgery so soon that I'll then be taken off the meds.  When I went to meet the dietician at the restart center she was not happy w/this at all.  She said she would think they'd want my sugar under control for surgery because it's harder to heal w/out of control sugars.  When I spoke w/the surgeon though he didn't think it was a real big deal.  He said after surgery they would come in and check my sugar every 6 hours and if it was off would give me meds accordingly at that point.  I'm going in now on Tuesday to see my family doctor to discuss what we need to do.  I'm so excited that this is totally happening now.  I think the one thing that I'm the most nervous about is doing the two weeks of liquids before surgery.  Afterwards I know it'll be easier because of my stomach being made smaller but before hand I have to be very strong to stick to it.  I know it's for a good reason and I hope that's enough.  I just wanted to get my pre stuff down here before doing surgery because I don't know how clear I'll be on it then.  Oh yeah I'm also lower in weight than I've been in like 8 years.  I'm at 377, I've had the hardest time getting under 380.  I'm also,as of 1/23, one year smoke free.  Woo hoo for me.
