hi, I know it's been a long time, but a lot has happened!
I changed doctors because I just could not go back to the fill doctor at my surgeon's office! He just absolutely had no clue about people's feelings. AND HE HURT ME!! I asked Dr. Ferzli if the "fill doctor" would give me lidocaine prior to attempting to stab me with that huge fill needle and he said, "yes, he will." However, when I finally went for my first fill (3 months after surgery), Dr. Castro (Dr. Ferzli's associate and fill doctor) told me he NEVER uses lidocaine, as it makes it more difficult to access the port (which I really don't think he did anyway, as I felt absolutely nothing during and after the first fill). So, as I left the office, $110 dollars poorer for what I considered to be nothing but pain and distress, I swore I would never return.
Then, I found Dr. Jean-Baptiste! He was a complete doll in surgeon garb and sweet, sensitive to his patients' needs, as was his entire staff, and although it was extremely difficult and he noted that my "port was on the wrong side?" (as recommended by INAMED), after about an hour of sticking, sticking and more sticking, he finally accessed my port (with lidocaine so I did not feel much, maybe a little discomfort, o pain) and THIS TIME, I FELT EVERYTHING!!! I felt the saline solution going through the tubing, I felt it tightening the band around my stomach, and most of all, I GOT RESTRICTION FOR THE FIRST TIME! It may have been a little too much, but now, after a few weeks, I think I got it together as to how to deal with it. I was not learning prior to now because I have not had restriction before this second fill.
Although I have not lost as much as many, I have lost over 30 lbs. so far, and I am very happy about it, actually thrilled to death!!!! I will continue to lose until I feel I am the most comfortable and then hopefully maintain.
