Disturbing News...

Apr 20, 2010

My sister went for her RNY on April 12th, and it is unfortunate that the surgeon couldnt do it. She has cirrhosis of the liver. He done a biopsy in hopes that maybe that wasnt the case, but it was.
When I finally got to see her in recovery, he had just left from telling her about it, and she was pretty upset for both reasons, that she has cirrhosis, and that she couldnt have surgery. The nurses and I all tried to comfort her, but she just kept saying she wanted to come home.
I cant blame her at all for wanting to seek out the comfort of home. But they kept her three days, and she was feeling some better when she was released. They are sending her to a specialist to get something done about her liver, and she has put herself on a diet and excercise program at home, and we have a friend that is on the same diet, and goes to walk with her everyday.
We go to our PCP doctor on May 5th, and she will be referred to the liver specialist from there.
As far as whats up with me... I had read I would be very tired for a period after surgery, but I wasnt prepaired for total exhaustion at all. My whole body ached and burned really bad for about a week. It has just gotten better the last 2 days here. I still kind of feel dragged down, but I am able to walk upright now.
I have been getting in most of my water, protein and vitamins. Sometimes I take a nap and sleep thru the time set for me to take a couple vitamins, and I end up a dose of calcium short for the day. But as time goes by I will adjust to the schedule I have set for myself and all suppliments will be taken everyday.
