"Dr. D. Schumacher did an excellent job on my Roux en Y gastric bypass. It's been right at 2 years and I am 3 lbs from my goal weight, which I would have already hit if I didn't sneak foods that I shouldn't now and then. I have lost 164 lbs over the last 2 years and I feel amazing. He and his staff were courteous, respectful, and fully explained everything to me prior to my surgery. I had issues post op due to my blood not wanting to bind with proteins and he kept me in the hospital for 5 days until he was satisfied that the issues were resolved. At my 6 month evaluation, he again went over the possible complications of the surgery in regards to gall bladder failure, and about a month later I started having symptoms. When I went to the ER, the first doctor I saw said he didn't think it was bad enough to remove. I requested them to call in Dr. Schumacher, who without hesitation admitted me and removed the gall bladder which was completely dead! Anyone considering having this surgery should first research on their own and then sit down with him and have a honest open conversation about what you want, what your concerns are, and what your expectations are. You will be required to sit though an informational briefing prior to seeing him, which will give you the opportunity to learn about the various procedures. Originally I went in wanting the lap band but with my family background and medical history I decided on the Roux instead after talking with him. The only down side is that his practice is busy so it can be hard to get in from time to time so be patient. :)"
