I was a normal weight gal until I went to college and got a little nutty with the "food freedom."  I've been up and down and all over the scale and am sick of it.  I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) in 2004, after trying unsuccessfully to conceive a baby for 3 years.  I now have a miracle baby, Austin, who is almost 2 years old and the light of my life.  I want to have another baby, but am having infertility issues again because of the weight and the PCOS.  My wish is to have this surgery so that I can lose the weight, get pregnant and have another healthy baby, and be around a long, long, lifetime for my husband and kid(s).  My hubby and I have been together since we were 16 years old, and he has been the most amazing support system and cheerleader for me during this process, despite the fact that I know he is worried and scared for me as well!

My first choice for surgery was the VSG, but my insurance company, United HealthCare, will not cover it.  They say it is "experimental", despite the 39 studies done over 5 years that I faxed to them as part of my appeal.  I am appealing again, but am not hopeful.  So, I went ahead and scheduled RNY surgery for January 2, 2008, and that was immediately approved.  I am somewhat apprehensive about the RNY, as it's hard to sort the facts from the propaganda out there, but feel that God is leading me to this path.

God bless all of you out there, Morbid Obesity is one horrible monster, but we will beat it one WLS and one day at a time.
