Band, no good!
Feb 26, 2012
Well I never thought I would be back to this point again. I’m currently 281lbs..YIKES! Lots to catch you up on. I had so much success with my band, I got down to 220 (keep in mind I’m 5’10) and was feeling good! My husband and I conceived on our honeymoon and 9wks into my pregnancy I had to have my fluids removed from my band because it was causing me to throw up EVERYTHING! Fast forward to 41wks 6days pregnant (the day I gave birth) I was up almost 90lbs…yes you read that right! After giving birth we slowly started to adjust my band. What a nightmare! Nothing but issues. I’ve had to have fluid removed because I cant stop vomiting. Scariest thing of all, I have actually woken up after vomiting in my sleep! I have constant heartburn, tons of gurgling, tightness in my chest…like I said a nightmare! This entire experience has shown me that I need a permanent fix and that the band isn’t for me at least not the post partum me. Before I even was banded my Dr. did mention that he wasn’t sure the band was for me and I guess he was right. I’ve done TONS of research lately and I really feel that the sleeve is the right surgery for me. I have any appointment on Friday with my surgeon and hopefully he will agree with me. Two fears; A) that for one reason or another I wont be able to have my band removed and the sleeve surgery (Kaiser denies it or my surgeon isn’t on board) and B) my AMAZING surgeon is moving out of the country soon and I really would want him to do the surgery. Yikes! I’m nervous.

This morning I realized it had been some time since I did an update on here, so much has happened!
Three weeks ago my Grandmother was diagnosed with breast caner. I was dealing with those I just want to curl up in a ball and eat until I was numb feelings. Luckily I have found this strength to not give into temptations and keep my head focused. My grandmother is having surgery on Wednesday and from that we will know the severity of the cancer and where we will go from here.
Monday I went to SSF for a fill, my surgeon was pleased to see my results so far. I was down 15 pounds since my last fill and 80 pounds since January of this year. In the last 6 days I have lost an additional 7 pounds! I think my fill worked :-)
I went and did a little bit of shopping for our upcoming trip to the mountains, I was so extremely happy to see I went from a size 28 to a 22 jeans and 22/24 top to a 18/20!!
Yesterday I witnessed a motorcyclist get cut off by another vehicle and then crash right in front of me. I slammed on my breaks, turned on my emergency lights and ran out screaming at the poor guy making sure he was okay. I called 911 and stayed with the gentleman, his head was split open, blood was everywhere and I really thought I was going to vomit. I was sickened to see how many people just continued to drive off and didn’t bother to stop and see if they could do anything to help. While I was waiting for the paramedics to arrive this man had asked me to call his gf and let her know what had happened, I was sobbing like an infant but managed to pull myself together to do this for him. I felt terrible, I put myself in her shoes and thought about what If I had received a similar call saying Chris had been injured in an accident. It all happened so fast! After giving all my statements to highway patrol and city police I was finally on my way, expect my entire mood had changed. I spent the rest of yesterday thinking about that man, praying that he was going to be okay as well as running to the restroom holding my mouth feeling like I was going to vomit (seeing a split open head will do that to you).
A persons life can change in one second, live for now!

9/26 (My first fill)
Sep 26, 2008
Okay so this morning we traveled to San Fran for my first fill, I was extremely nervous and my blood pressure was proof that I was thinking about the fill that entire 2 hour trip down.
It was over before I knew it, the numbing shot was a little stick nothing major the actual needle used for the fill was rather larger and intimidating! Honestly I couldn’t even feel the needle breaking the skin, once inside I could feel everything! It wasn’t painful just tickled a little bit and felt very awkward. I was laughing hysterically during the fill it self my surgeon asked me if I was okay, ha!
Anyways I was very pleased it was short and sweet, just wish I didn’t have to drive 2 hours there and back for a 10 minute fill.
Okay here are my stats!
