Band, no good!

Feb 26, 2012

Well I never thought I would be back to this point again. I’m currently 281lbs..YIKES! Lots to catch you up on. I had so much success with my band, I got down to 220 (keep in mind I’m 5’10) and was feeling good! My husband and I conceived on our honeymoon and 9wks into my pregnancy I had to have my fluids removed from my band because it was causing me to throw up EVERYTHING! Fast forward to 41wks 6days pregnant (the day I gave birth) I was up almost 90lbs…yes you read that right! After giving birth we slowly started to adjust my band. What a nightmare! Nothing but issues. I’ve had to have fluid removed because I cant stop vomiting. Scariest thing of all, I have actually woken up after vomiting in my sleep! I have constant heartburn, tons of gurgling, tightness in my chest…like I said a nightmare! This entire experience has shown me that I need a permanent fix and that the band isn’t for me at least not the post partum me. Before I even was banded my Dr. did mention that he wasn’t sure the band was for me and I guess he was right. I’ve done TONS of research lately and I really feel that the sleeve is the right surgery for me. I have any appointment on Friday with my surgeon and hopefully he will agree with me. Two fears; A) that for one reason or another I wont be able to have my band removed and the sleeve surgery (Kaiser denies it or my surgeon isn’t on board) and B) my AMAZING surgeon is moving out of the country soon and I really would want him to do the surgery. Yikes! I’m nervous.
