Nearing the end of '07 and looking forward to the New Year

Dec 20, 2007

I love my band!  I'm down to 215 and was a little less than that but went on a cruise and gained 2 pounds.  I feel so much better and have more energy now.  The weight loss is a little slow but it is consistent.  In the past year since I have starting getting fills and having restriction, I am learning to make necessary adjustments to my personal eating habits.  For example, I can eat very little in the mornings.  A hot cup of herbal tea or coffee before a meal really helps.  When I am retaining fluids or if I get stressed out, I have difficulty eating and my food will often get stuck.  Flying in an airplane causes me to swell (ankles and feet) and apparently inside too as I have difficulty with the band tightening up then too.

I am glad that I chose to get banded and have started sharing the reason for my success with any one else who I think might be interested.  And a couple of my friends have gotten the lap band too.  it can be life changing.

First and foremost, I give God all the glory because He is the Great Physician and has blessed me with strength and healing and with a good surgeon and follow up care.

Looking forward to be a "looser" in 2008 (when it comes to my weight that is!) and a winner when it comes to every thing else.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my bandster friends.

Update February 22, 2007

Feb 22, 2007

I had my 4 months bandiversary on yesterday!!!
It has been a while since I posted and realize it is time for an update. I received my second fill on February 14, 2007.  Again, it went off without a hitch.  I notice a little restriction but not a lot.  I had hoped it would be more but Dr. Viglianco had told me previously that it would probably take 3 or 4 fills before I got to the "sweet spot" and in a way it is good because it gives me time to learn how to adapt to my band.  I can still eat just about any food so long as I remember to take my time and chew, chew, chew.  I have had a few PB's and stay away from most breads.  Unfortunately, I am still dealing with a severe sweet tooth but have cut back on everything.  I am down to 228 lbs.  That is 29 lbs. gone forever!!!!

First Fill 01/07/2007

Jan 07, 2007

I had my first fill on January 4th.  I was a little nervous about the procedure but no need to be, it went off without a hitch.  I have noticed where some people say they don't feel any restriction until the get several fills but I can tell that I have a restriction.  It reminds me to eat slowly and chew well.

Christmas and New Years were great and I ate too much however I didn't gain any weight but I didn't loose any either.  I am glad to have a fill and notice that it is already making a difference.  Down a few more pounds in the past week.

The surgery on Tuesday  went well with little complications.  There was a problem with excessive scar tissue from a old gall bladder surgery.  Just meant they needed an additional incision and caused my stomach to be sore and restricted....had trouble even getting all my fluids in on my 3rd day home....but by Sunday was feeling good and also starting to feel real hunger for the first time in quite a while.....but I am concentrating on learning to eat properly for the rest of my life....these portions are so small compared to the old way....and it is really different learning how to eat slow.  but I know I can do it.   I just keep remembering God's word says that I can do all things thru Christ Jesus who strengthens me.  I can do this.
